A Cautionary Tale.......

Everyone Might Not Be As Stupid As Me But Here Is What Happened:-

I asked for and got an extra 1 CC for my second fill. The reason is, the first 3 CC's I got after my operation gave me "restriction" for about 2 weeks then subsided. I thought 2 extra CCs would do it (even though the PA didn't agree). I couldn't keep anything down, so I went back for an "unfill".

Sooooooooooooo.............When they say "1 CC".............listen to them!

The more fills you have the less it takes...........A Lesson Learned!

That is a very good cautionary tale on how important the fills are. I am lucky because my surgeon tentatively schedules the first fill for week 6, which i think is fabulous! :) Keep up with the fills and the good work! You will get that 5 lbs and more off before you know it.

Everyone Might Not Be As Stupid As Me But Here Is What Happened:-

I was banded on November 30, 2011 and lost any restriction I had from the surgical proceedure by December 23rd. Since I didn't understand how important the "fills" were, I didn't schedule a "fill" untill January 26, 2012. I had lost over 30 lbs before the surgery but had gained 5 lbs back by the time I had my first fill because I could eat as I did before the surgical proceedure. My first fill was 3 cc's which gave me a total of 5 cc's in my 11 cc band. I felt "restriction" but nothing unbearable.

I think the point u make Colin is a very valid point and i feel needs emphasisng more ! Many times i have read on here that people have gone for many months even years without going back to the doctor and having a check up or getting more fill and they end up putting a ton of weight back on and then are puzzled as to whats going on.

I know sometimes its a money issue for some people but so is eating too much, it does cost u more in the long run. Maintaining your band is essential to be succesful just as much as anything else. If you notice u are getting hungrier quicker or can eat more of the food that u couldnt before then go get the band checked out and dont leave it too long ...

I love the fact that my surgeon listens to me...yes he has been doing this for years and actually trains other surgeon..but I know what i'm feeling in my body..i'm so glad my surgeon doesn't have a set schedule for fills but let's u have some say so in it...now getting an appointment isnt easy but he does listen.

Glad you are feeling better!! I got the minimum fill they would give me at my last fill 3 weeks ago (.5 cc) and it's too much....hoping they'll be able to remove half of that tomorrow but I have a feeling they'll take it all. Which really sucks because then I'll be back to where I was before, and I wasn't losing at that place.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
