What Is Your Signal?

Recommended Posts

My doctor said that most people get a "full" signal, other than the actual feeling of being full. I do get that, but I have found that when I am full I also hiccup for about two minutes. It's weird! What about you guys?

I don't hiccup, but I burp a lot instead. Very charming, I know!

Hiccups indicate I went one step too far, stop and see if it progresses to a stuck.

The band sends a signal to the brain that you are full, but you don't have the feeling of being full. This can be 24/7' curbing your appetite and taking away cravings if you listen to your band and not your head.

I have gone full days without any desire to eat.

I know I'm finished by 2 things. First, I just loose interest and don't want to continue anymore. 2nd, is persistent pain, telling me my pouch is full and I need to stop before damage is done.

I havent had that "signal" yet. I sometimes get a soft 'stuck' if I eat chicken or bread. This is usually within the first 2 bites. Once that passes, I kick myself, and actually sit down to have my meal, I dont get a full signal. I just evaluate how much I've eaten and make myself stop. I'm going in for my 2nd fill next Monday, and I cant wait to not be hungry all the time

Its gotten better for me for the most part, because I have gotten smaller containers so I know I should only eat so much and a pack of baby spoons, (pretty colors lol) and thats a big reminder to take those small bites at a time. I use KFC containers from the mashed taters gravy wash them and use for containers for Breakfast /lunch.(they have the lids on them just the right sz)

I don't rally have a "full" signal, but my "I've gone one step too far" signal is pain in my right shoulder/upper back. Not sure why it's my right side and not my left as most people feel it in their left. I've always been different I guess. biggrin.png

I get a warm feeling in the middle of my upper back, sort of where the esophagus is, I would think. And the sense that if I eat one more bite it's going to come back up. I've learned to spit out that last bite rather than testing to see if it goes down. Gross, but that's what napkins are for. I had one slimy PB and one episode of vomiting, and I'm not anxious to experience either one again. Had my first fill last Monday, and can now only eat 3/4 cup at the most, so that's all I put on my plate or in my new, smaller bowls.

Do people only get a warning sign after they have been filled. I am 5 weeks post op with no fill and I havent had a sign line that yet. I also only eat a cup of food per meal so I may not be eating enough for a stop signal which is fine by me.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
