Yummy Oatmeal Recipe?

Recommended Posts

I really like the Better Oats Good n' Hearty varieties. Each packet has about 9g of sugar.

Use the quick cook oatmeal, and then add brown sugar and cinnamon in moderation. Brown sugar has very low calories per teaspoon. That's my fave!

Or better yet, use real oatmeal. Just buy the rolled oats, measure out, pour on milk and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, just microwave for a minute thirty, two minutes depending on your microwave, and then add your flavorings - I like it with just brown sugar and a bit of extra milk or Peanut Butter and maple Syrup.< /p>

If you want to keep an eye on sugar, it's best just to make real oatmeal. I make my own and like to add Peanut Butter and honey. You could add a little smashed banana, or cinnamon and raisins. I have even cooked down diced apples and added that with a little cinnamon in my oatmeal. The possibilies are endless.

What I do is to toast some Steel Cut Oats with a bit of olive oil in a pan, just till lightly toasted, then I cook them as directed on package and freeze them into little serving size portions. If you make alot at one time, you will have a quick and easy Breakfast on days where you dont feel like cooking, can just pop one from the freezer to microwave for a few minutes.

The Steel Cut variety take longer to cook, about 45 minutes or so but the taste is SO worth it and you can customize it any way you want to once you go to serve it. Add some fruit or Agave nectar or a bit of natural Peanut Butter. I also like them with some sugar free Maple Syrup mixed in. LOVE my Steel Cut Oats! Someone recommended that I try adding my Protein powder into my oatmeal. MISTAKE, I wont ever do that again, ruined a perfectly good bowl of oatmeal. lol.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
