How Long Does A "stuck" Last?

Recommended Posts

Cocobean, i didn't have food stuck that long but everytime I ate something even if is was just some soggy eggs, it got stuck. it didn't go down and i had to go cough it up. so i had to do liquids for that extra month or so. i too had a hernia repair and my doctor said that was part of the problem. once the swelling went down from that i guess, i was all good then. bread is a no no, i have found that i can eat it toasted with a little butter though. and i sure do miss it. I am 7 months post opt and i can't tell you how good i feel. I lost 33 pounds, so far. i haven't had any fills or adjustments. sometimes i still have the stuck stuff, like the other day i was eating somethning and i had to stop and go cough it up because it wouldn't go down but the key here is to chew, chew, chew,. no drinking while u eat. if i don't do anything else right i got that part locked down. well good luck with everything.

@Success,

Gotcha, that sounds like it was a very rough time. Congrats on your losses so far! Way to go! I hear that a hernia repair can make post-op a bigger challenege.

I am glad to hear you are getting it all figured out.

I am having a real issue with things getting stuck. Just when I think I have it figured out something else triggers it. I was at the ER at my local hospital this morning hoping to have some saline removed. The doctor on call could not get any Fluid out of the band and suggested that I wait until monday to see my surgeon. I am home sipping little bits of Water and am hoping that I do not get dehydrated and have to go back for an IV. Anybody have any suggestions.

Since I started this post.I have been on tuna and crab salad Soups etc-so far- so good..,,, think the chicken might have to just GO or make it boiled n shredded- along with the coffee. It is a learning process to see what fits the shoe for sure.

Did you contact your surgeon's office? Sometimes the surgeon will meet you at the ER or at the office to do an unfill. Tell the surgeon's service you are having problems getting liquid down, and that you've been to the ER--they failed in an attempt to unfill you.

Hello Pats, I am so sorry that you are going through this issue. I know how u feel. The only thing you can do is continue to sip as much Water as you can to keep from getting dehydrated, but i'm afraid that the only person who can help you is your doctor. He may have to do another EEG to see if something has gotten caught in the band . Best of luck to you and God Bless.

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
      Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
