Day 3 of my 10 day pre-op liquid diet and already down 14 lbs! (8 from trying to eat better and 6 from the liquid diet!!) I feel so motivated after stepping on the scale this morning, I don't think I'm going to have any problems staying true to this liquid diet (hopefully!!) If the results keep coming! biggrin.png Getting Banded March 6th at 9am, I'll be waiting in the hospital exactly one week from today!! Woohoo!!

Awesome how are you feel g being so close now? I know I'm starving lol

When I started off on my diet I was starving! Then I got passed that but now I'm starving again! I'm getting nervous but I know that I can't keep going the path that I'm on. Next Thur is getting closer. After church on Sunday everyone went to CiCi's and I was proud of my self! I just had salad and really did not want the pizza! :)

I bought an iced frappe flavor of Bariatric Advantage on Amazon, and it was sooooo gross. Made me nauseated, and felt greasy in my mouth.

I am now officially a March Bandster!! I just got the call from my surgeon's office with a March 19 surgery date!!! I'm very excited, but a little nervous. My best friend was going through this process at the same time and she found out 15 mins after I was approved that she had been denied! So now I feel a little scared not having her going through the process with me. So I need all the support I can get from my fellow march bandster!! If you want to keep up with each other on Facebook you can find me at Tina Sigmon Noel in Roanoke Virginaia.

That was my first appt, finding out about the program, meeting the surgeon, psych appt, and appt with dietician. I would call and ask for an appt.

I would think that you would have met your doctor before sending your paperwork off for approval. Although I only spent about 10 min with him, I did get to meet him. Have you done all the other appointments? Dietician, psychologist....

Probably would be best to give the docotor's office a call.

I just got my approval and was able to schedule my date today! March 20th! I am a little upset because my surgeon's office gets approval before scheduling surgery, and I was told when the approval came it would be about two weeks til surgery. She told me they were all booked for March (they usually only do banding on Wednesday's) and she was able to find me an early spot on the 20th. It was either that or April!

My pre-op is a low fat diet, but I had already started a two Protein Shakes and one meal per day about a week ago. Hoping I can lose another 10lb before surgery! I figured it was better to start with the Protein Drinks and one meal because I will be on all liquids after surgery... Don't want the big shock.

I'm the 8/3 also Deesdiary how excited are you!!!

I am getting more excited with each passing day. My pre-op starts tomorrow so I think Roadhouse is on the list for dinner!!! I stocked up on shakes and veggies, protien over the weekend so I had something to eat. I have been trying the different flavors (only because I have a friend who had bypass and is sending me samples) of the Gold Standard Whey......so far it's not bad. I don't have a time yet but that is the least of my conerns.

Do you know what time your surgery throughthelookingglass?

I'm surprised at how different these doctors are and we all are doing the same surgery. I don't know if I can make it through this Protein Shake only 2 wks.. I'm starving with it and the shakes don't have a great taste (to me) as it is.

Started my two week pre op diet today ! The shakes weren't that bad but the 2 cups of veggies I get eat each day are a god send. I put them in low sodium chicken broth an it's like I'm eating chicken Soup ! That fact that I can chew the veggies is amazing :). This is gonna be hard but in two weeks I'll be banded and my new life will start ! I still can't Belive it's only two weeks away !!! :D

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
