just want to say congrats to the both of you. If you listen to your doctor and fellow the rules you guys will do great.

so impressed with you both for making a life changing decision at a young age. I wish my niece could have this..... She lives every being ridiculed about her weight and it just kills me. She the sweetest kindest person and I just love her to death....

Good luck and hey..... Koodles to your parents for giving you this wonderful Gift of a brighter future.

hey bayougirl, thank you so much :) My sister also got banded when she was around 16 and it worked amazingly for her. Although she was already so beautiful, I swear conversations stop and heads turn when she walks into a room these days lol. I know how it is to be ridiculed about my weight and my heart really goes out to your niece. A lot of people don't understand how mean some people can be to others. I can't thank my parents enough for doing this for me. Oh, and congrats on your 80 lb weight loss so far! That's amazing!

Yes I live it so far, its just a tool but when used the right way it gets u places. I havnt been back to school in almost two years because of my weight, I was 170kg and because of that presure on my back two disks in my lower spine slipped and tore my sciatic nerve. So was out of action for 6 months then it took a further 6 months to recover fully then I was just to big to risk it again so we waited a year until I was 16 so I could get the band. Since then I have lost 30 kg. It's the beat feeling ever. I walked into school and people hugged me, no really spoke to me while I was gone, which was worst. I couldn't go anywhere and no one wanted to come around. Not that I could've done much but lay on a couch. So being hugged today was just so nice :) I'm from the northern territory australia :) I walked home from school first time in two years today. I couldn't be happier. So if I'm happy with my lap band? HELL YER!! haha best choice for me :)

Hello, I was banded when I was 19 which was last year in February. :) I've certainly had my ups and downs with my band but all in all I don't regret getting it. It has helped me and it has made me feel so much better. I too was looking to see if I could find anyone closer to my age group since I don't have many friends who actually understand what I am going through. Anyway, good luck and hope to hear from you soon! :)

@Jess: Wow, I'm sorry to hear about all of the difficulties you've had with your weight, but I'm so happy to see that you got the band and it's working for you :) 10 days until I get mine and I am SOOOO excited I seriously can't wait. I'm so happy I found this site. I'm hoping to meet some really awesome people on here and stay in touch with them throughout my whole weight loss journey. Australia?? Dangg so far away lol I'm in Southern California. Always wanted to go to Australia. How is it this time of year?

Heyy Kimberly :) Thanks for posting. I'm so happy to see that there are other people around my age on this website. Exactly, none of my friends really understand so now I'll just come here and talk to you guys about my band when I get it haha. I know it's not going to be easy, but I plan on doing everything I can to lose this weight. I'm hoping to gain a lot of confidence from it. I'll keep you guys updated after I get it. 10 days! ahhh so stoked. Oh and I forgot to ask, where are you from? :)

I'm in Vegas! Trust me you will gain a lot of confidence. Before I used to get anxiety attacks from just thinking about meeting people in public or being in a large crowd of people. Yeah, I definitely don't like the fact that I can't talk to the people whom I am closest with, but sometimes it is what it is sadly. Plus I find that it's easier to bond with others you don't know but are going through similar things at the time as you are. :) Who's idea was it to get the band?

hey im not a teen but i am 22 and im so glad to see that there are young people on here most people seem to be way older. but yeah its so good to take charge of our lives at a young age but it is true that it is sometimes difficult for other people our age to understand our choice. hope the best to you all and if any of you have questions or anything dont hesitate to ask :)

Alright I actually do have a quick question that I need to ask before I forget it. My mom is being a typical mom and asking me a million questions everyday about how I'm feeling about the surgery and if I'm excited or nervous lol but the ONE question she's been asking me non-stop is what I'm going to wear to the hospital the day of my surgery. I'm not sure why haha but can you all just let me know what you wore the day of your surgery to the hospital so I can get some ideas and finally give this crazy lady some answers haha thanks! <3

Oh my goodness girl lol I just wore some sweats. Seriously, you're going to have to be naked anyway under the nightgown they give you. So wear sweats, don't put any lotion or antibacterial soap on the area that is going to be under surgery. Obviously take out any piercings you may have. I had my tongue pierced so I had to take that out. Make sure that you don't do your makeup (Idk why you would anyway haha, but I guess some people do) and no perfumes. That's pretty much it:)

yeah just sweats the most conformable thing you have cuz you are going to get naked anyway but after surgery when u go home u want something conformable and something that is not going to rub on to much on ur insistions

I was banded at 16, it will be four years coming up in August.

I just wanted to say I know exactly where you're coming from, wanting this surgery.

I am trying to get mine out, I have an Endoscopy coming up next week. Doc thinks I possibly have an erosion; but I've wanted mine out for a while now.

Just know, having the lapband is certainly a tough road, I've been through the ringer with mine.

If you have any questions or concerns of any type, please feel free to ask me. Although you said your sister had it done so i'm sure you can ask her anything lol

The best of luck to all of you teens who have been through this, or are about to.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
