Who Has Survived The Stomach Flu?

Recommended Posts

There is a rampant case of stomach flu going around our school and I am so afraid of getting it. My stomach feels a little quezy, but not sure if that is just me thinking to much!

Has anyone had a case of the stomach flu and survived without getting an unfill? I am wondering if I should get an unfill as a precaution?!? In the past I have been able to "talk" myself out of throwing up, but I wonder if that will work now.

Uggg, I dont want this! But I guess I am going to get at some point in time that I have my band. I was just hoping to make it to goal before that happened.

Yes I had it right before Christmas and it was not fun. I only threw up once and it really scared me. Call your DR. they can give you a script that will help you to not throw up. I didnt get ahold of my Dr in time but they told me that there is something they could have given me.

Good Luck!!!!!

I talked to my doctor about this today and he basically just said if it happens from something other than food getting stuck, that it should be fine and that if they had to they would unfill...you just need to tell your doctor right away of your concern and he will probably give you something...or tell you what to do. I was worried about this as well! Last thing I want is to have the band in me and get violently ill and have my band slip! He assured me its something that rarely happens though.

I had the stomach flu about two weeks ago. I was worried about the band slipping because I was vomiting. I survived. I definetly didnt want an un-fill because once I kicked the flu I knew I would be hungry and ready to eat!

The NP at my surgeons office said if it is violent, (LOL) you should come into the office and get an unfill. We all know at one point this will probably happen--just a matter of when unfortunately! :-/

I was jsut banded so I'm not sure. I did throw up on the way home and I am always someone who can talk myself out of it. I had a flu shot before surgery, because I didn't want to take the chance of getting it an throwing up with the band. If you don't have anything against getting a flu shot I would definitely do it next year. Good luck I hope you feel better!

I had a bad stomach bug a couple months ago, threw up a little bile the first couple times and then dry heaves for about 20-30 times before I could get someone to take me to the Dr. They gave me a shot to stop the nausea and pills to take home for the same thing and I didn't throw up again. Go get the pills if you think you might catch it, I wish I had done the same thing (I caught it from my boyfriend).

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
