I Think The Last 20 Are Going To Be Hard!

Recommended Posts

I have been hovering between 180 and 185 for months now. Have not really tried very hard to get going again, was just happy that I didnt gain during the Holiday's!! Well I finally hit 179.5 this morning. I know that if I get back to the gym on a regular basis and really start watching what I eat I would probably do alot better. I have been in the 180's since October, uggg.

I am not really as bummed that I am not losing the last 20 as I should be. I am just really pleased that I was able to maintain a weight for some length of time. To lose 60 lbs and maintain it for even just a little bit has been wonderful in itself.

But..... I really want to lose the last 20 now. Hopefully by summer, which is only like a pound a week. I think I can do that. I was only at 160 for a short time in my life (my first wedding) and then I crept back up and had kids (and then 20 years happened to go by) haha. So I am wondering how fesible it will be to maintain that weight. I feel really comfortable right now. I guess I can just try to lose and see how it works at that weight. But I also dont want to lose 20 and then gain it back because then I might not stop.

Is anyone not at goal, but is happy with the weight that they are at. This is the weight that I gave to myself when I got the surgery. The Doctor wanted to shoot for 160.00 because that is normal BMI. Technically, I am still overweight, But I dont feel that way anymore. I am wearing 12's for the most part (I even have a size 8 that I can sqeeze into). So is that really overweight. Or am I just talking myself out of doing the rest of the work and dropping the last 20???? that is the real question I guess....

Thanks for listening.

I know what you mean. I'm down to the last 10, and it has slowed way down.

BMI's at this point are generally useless. They are not that accurate because people 2 people with identical ht. and wt. and same BMI's can have different fat content v. muscle mass.

I have access to a Body Fat % scale at the gym, where you stand on it barefoot, and grap the metal handles on the side. Need to enter age, height, M/F, and it gives you your weight and Body Fat %. I am at 21%, and for someone my age that is "Acceptable" Not sure where to squeeze the last few ponds from, my ear lobes?

Need to talk with Dr. in a few weeks.

Yes, the last 20 are the hardest to lose. I used to want to shake my friends who needed to lose 20 lbs - and that's all. Now I'm one of them. I need to lose about 13 more to get to my 135 goal. And I've been losing and gaining the same 5 lbs for the past 6 mths. I'm in a size 7 jeans for the first time in my life tho - and that's good. If I never lost anymore weight, I'd stil be happy with my band. I'd be happier if I could lose the darned 13 lbs tho! Good luck to you!

I have less than 10. If ANYONE figures it out please let me know. I have been up and down with the same 3-5 lbs for the last 2-1/2 months also.

Yes, I'm right there with you. I've been stuck at 158-160 since September and I really want to maintain at 145. It's so close, but so far away.

I've rededicated myself with a few "renewal" rules and I'm trying to (finally) start an exercise program, but it's a whole different ballgame in this BMI range AND it's really easy to feel satisfied right here after weighing so much more for so long!

When I first got going with my lapband journey my goal was 160. I had some shorts that were size 14 saved and that's all I cared about getting into. At the time 75 pounds seemed like a huge stretch. Now those shorts fall to the ground on me. Once I hit 160 I made a new goal of 140. I am now at 154. I went shopping a couple of nights ago and just about died trying on 6 pairs of size 8 pants and they all fit! But honestly, if I never go over a size 12 again I would be really happy.

So the answer to your question is YES! I am happy where I am at now, but so looking fwd to buying a pair of size 6 pants! There's no stopping now! I'm getting down to 140 and when I do I will be buying myself some cute $200 jeans!

It took me two years to lose the last 20. My goal was always ambitious, but once id hit the top of my healthyweight range it had slowed right dow and i figured for the longest time thats where id stay, not that i was particularly appy about it. Im a terrible perfectionist so i kept at it and eventally got under 150 - at five foot ten that was ok for me.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
