Concerned About Getting My Surgery In Tijiuana Because My Wife Is Pretty, Innocently Nieve & I'm Afraid For Her Safety - Am I Nuts ???

Recommended Posts

The Lord said...ask for wisdom so I've asked Him in prayer....and I believe He will answer. And He could answer through the wise advice on this forum.

Please don't throw stones at me with my concern but here is my dilema. I'm looking to get my surgery with Dr. Ortiz or Dr. Kuri (done my research). My wife is originally from the Philippines (only been in the US for about 2 years now), about 90 lbs, very pretty and very "non aware" type of personality when it comes to potential danger and suspicious people.

Because I love her so much, I don't want to go to another country (i.e. Tijiuana which is known for crime), and put her at risk because of my surgery. If something were to happen to my precious jewel (while I"m recovering for 1-2 days still in Mexico)....I don't know if I could live with myself....my job as a man is to protect her...

Although I know they pick you up at the airport, and you will be in the hospital the whole time. But what if some employee (who had ties to some local gang) tipped off some people and took her to be in the sex slave industry or who know what God aweful reason. I know this may sound crazy......but I keep on remembering my wise great-grandfather once said...."always be prepared for the what ifs" . (all for a surgery that I wanted/needed because I've gain 80lbs in 6 years due to stress (e.g. from 207-287).

Again...I realize you can't prepare for everything....and you can't be afraid to go outside of your house because LIGHTENING DOES STRIKE SOMETHING....but the fact still remains...I'm putting her at risk. If my wife was an A Type personality, not fragile in built, wasn't so pretty (and innocently a little nieve), I wouldn't be as concerned as I am. I love her so much...and couldn't bare anything to happen to her (I'm even getting a little teary eyed as I type this).

Moving forward, I know my options is that I could have someone come with us to Tijuiana but this is not an option for many reasons. The only other option is to play it safe and have the surgery here for twice as much.

Any thoughts or opinions? Again...please understand my sincere concern. I want to be wise in the finances the good Lord has given us and get out of debt as soon as possible given what the world economy is going through. Saving $5,000 is alot of money.....but I don't think I could live with myself if something happen to my precisious flower. Maybe...after typing this...my decision is becoming more clear.

Many thanks for your sincere imputs !

If you are saving $5k, spend some of that savings and contact a medical aid company in San Diego. You might be able to hire someone to go with you to Tijuana as an escort.

There might even be someone here on LBT who lives in this area (San Diego) who was banded in Tijuana who might be willing to serve as an escort. In this economy, lots of people are looking for work. I know you don't know the people here at LBT, but it's a thought.

if this is for real and I kinda doubt it, go alone.

Dr. Ortiz's operation is as safe as safe can be!

You are "cocooned" from the time they pick you up in San Diego untill they drop you back off at the airport. I have seen more crime here at home (and I'm from CANADA) then I did when I was in Mexico.

Awesome Colin...I really appreciate your thoughts. I told my wife of my post...which she laughts and smiles...as she knows I love her so much.

P.S. I've noticed Dr. Kuri doesn't do his surgeries at Hospital LosAngeles ...and now does his surgeries at small health center. Also noticed, he ran a special (apparently cheaper over head) for $5000 the surgery last month.

Blessings,

I had my surgery done in TJ with Dr. Juan Corvala and it was done at the Hospital Angeles. I get your concerns but have a little faith in the great and mighty God we serve. I felt very safe and secure during my stay there. I even brought a female friend with me. Seeing beautiful women is not a novelty and your beautiful wife won't be roaming the streets. I suspect she will be in the hospital in the room with you. If you don't want her going across the street to the restaurant to eat bring some ramen noodles and Snacks and she will be perfectly fine. It's only for a couple days and everyone is so very nice.

You guys are funny....actually...I'm at much more peace with my decision now. Its the male protector nature in me that got me a little antsy about the both of us going down there. My father will be coming with us....so I'm not as concerned. I just love my wife...and I"m always preparing for the "what if" scenario.

God forbid if something were to happen to me...would have been all alone there....not to mention what would she going to say to my family and how would she coordinate the details to them ...God forbid something were to happen.

Moving forward, ...God is my Protector...and My Provider...so whom shall I fear right? I'm at peace with my decision now.....and her protection. MANY THANKS in advance for allowing me to share my concern.....I'm sure many read this and was like.....OH MY GOD...I CAN'T BELIEVE HE IS WORRIED ABOUT THIS..... :) .....but never judge a man unless you walked in his shoes....lol...

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
