Can I just ask if anyone suffers with any problems going to the toilet properly ???

Its just I have problems with this prior to WLS Im only on pre op diet and this has

started to be a problem already.

I asked my surgeon about this and he said I would be fine.

But im worrying that after my op this is going to be a big problem for me.

Does anyone else suffer with the same problem if so do you have any solutions.

I would really appreciate some help on this subject.

Thanks

Claire

I was banded on 12/21 and have had problems with going. I am not going for 4 or 5 days and have to take milk of magnesia to go. People say it straightens out after awhile. It was really bad when I was only on liqueds, Now that I have been on real food again I am hoping it gets a bit better. Good luck!

depending on what stage of the game you are in its possible to have constaption or diarahea. on the preop diet the Protein Shakes literally tore my stomach up.. it was horrible.. after surgery you probably won't go to the bathroom for a while because anesthia does something to your bowels. when you increase your Protein intake it can cause you to have constapation.. (probably spelling wrong). go ahead and get you some Fiber supplements now. I take fiber gummies.. two gummies once a day and I am done.. Some people do mirlax and other kinds..

For an acute (urgent ) situation use the MOM. For daily, prune juice until you get to solids and then just a few prunes every morning. Water is also critical but is difficult to get enough right after your surgery.

I had the same problem, and I wrongly assumed, because I was mainly having Protein Shakes on the pre-surgery diet, that I wouldn't have a BM (bowel movement)....wrong, wrong, wrong! I had surgery and after surgery, I became impacted (and that required a doctor/hospital visit to fix). This affected the healing process and I was in pain and miserable for at least a week longer than I should have been. So you should try to sort this out now. There are several ways to prevent this from happening. Some have been discussed above (prune juice, milk of magnesia). I used Benefibre twice a day. You can add it to Water or whatever liquids you are drinking. It has no taste and does not thicken or anything else. So water, tastes like water. Start now and don't leave this much longer. 4 to 5 days without a BM is too long. Good luck.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
