I am doing well but have wicked shoulder pain mostly at night. Otherwise, no nausea and healing well.

Good luck to everyone going this week!! I am super nervous but as soon as I log into of February bandsters I feel over come with ease. I can't believed a new beginning is 3 days away. You all give me so much hope. This will be a hard journey for me because I come from a big Italian family who the majority should be banded. We are forever around food. I hope a can set a new example of Health for them all. I am ready to feel alive and not just be alive!! You are all wonderful and I am super happy I joined this forum. I might not write often but you all inspire me xoxo!! :) best of luck and well wishes to you all!! Here is to a new skinny , healthy and happier us :)

Good luck Rebecca!! Dont worry, everything will go great! :)

Today I am feeling good. I actually woke at my usual time and I am getting my son ready for school. Today is my last day of rest then it is back to work tomorrow. Outside of a little gas pain lingering, I feel great.

A great post surgery gift!!!

I am three days after surgery and feeling just a little better every day! Yesterday I hd one one of "what did I do, why did I do this" moments" , feeling very sorry for myself cause I could not eat and feeling lousy. But I then received the nicest gift from my sister. She came over with a shopping bag of clothes for me. I was sooooooo happy to find 2 pairs and jeans and 3 tops....all size mediums and 10's!!!!!! At first, I said, these could not be for me....and she said, yes they are cause you will fit into them shortly. As I held up the beautiful "skinny" clothes I realized that this was real...one day I will be thin and healthier, I knew that this would all be worth it!

I had mine on the 17th as well...its been a crazy exciting yet scary experience...im not in as much pain as I was the last few days....most of the pain is in my chest but thats because a few minutes into surgery my heart stopped and I had to have cpr.....I too have had more than one of those what the hell did I do this to myself for.but those moments pass.....if the nausea would pass I would be greatful.....all in due time.....good luck to all you feb bandsters......

I was banded on the 17th also. Seem to be doing well. Up and about, went for a short walk yesterday. My post op diet includes the Protein Shakes and obviously Clear Liquids for 2 weeks, so no problem there. I have a bit of pain up around my collar bone, but taking liquid tylenol. My incisions are healing well. Starting to itch - bummer! I found an anit-itch spray that I use around the sites (put my finger on the incision so I don't accidently spray it directly).

Obviously sleeping on my back due to the port. I have to wear a sort of "girdle" thing while the mesh that is holding my port heals.

Noticed yesterday all of the food commercials - how cruel! Switched to netflix and reading.

I'm planning a short excursion out today - to the pharmacy and vet (gotta feed the dog).

To mynewlife2011 - so glad we were banded the same day because if I had read of your surgery experience, I probably would have cancelled - it's exactly what I was worried about. Glad to hear that it turned out well though. Remember - baby sips! helps with the nausea.

Well my surgery is scheduled for Feb. 28th with pre-op this Wednesday. Over the weekend I came down with this god awful cough. So I am going to my PCP today to see if he can "cure" me by Wednesday or I'll bet surgery will be delayed.

I really enjoy reading the posts here and wish everyone the best of luck.

Lori

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
