Hey mags2u! Welcome to the site. I'm from Stl and live in KC now. Feel free to message me anytime you have questions or want to chat. I had surgery on 2/17/11. You must be doing or close to starting your liquid diet. How's that going so far?

Thanks! My doctor doesn't actually require a pre-surgery diet, however since my surgery is 7 days away (oh my thats the first time I can say that laugh.png ) starting tomorrow I'm doing a Protein drink, liquid diet. Then Sunday and Monday I will do Clear liquids before surgery. Kind of had my last horrah of the year and am just ready for the new year and new me to start! Did you have your surgery in St. Louis?

Good idea to so the liquid Protein Shakes. It gets you ready for the week after surgery of liquids, and it can help shrink the liver before surgery. I had my surgery in KC. Do you have some shakes picked out? I spent a few days trying out a few to make sure I found one brand I like.

I'm in Stl and I was banded on 10/26/2011. So not a ton of long term experience, but I am probably a few steps ahead and can help answer questions along the way? Feel free to message me anytime :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
