Hi everyone, My name is Clarissa and today is my first attempt at gaining more of a support team. As of now I only have my friend who is 3 years post surgery and down a great amount. She instructed me to join this group for more support so here goes:

I currently had surgery July 2011 and now its time for my 4th fill next week and Im not losing any weight. I can almost eat anything I choose to even pizza or saltine crackers. I dont know what I am doing wrong besides eating.

Okay I suggest you post again and give everybody all the details so they can help. Give a sample day of eating (everything), do you drink all your Water? workout? how often ? how long? Eating all your Protein? Trust me people will be happy to help you with advice. Welcome everyone here is very nice and will be supportive , but be ready if they tell you like it is, sometimes we need support and sometime we need a kick in the right direction. So chin up and take like a women and I am pretty sure someone will say something that will help you. What i mean is sometimes the advice does not come sugarcoated but that does not mean they are not giving you support. Message me anytime if I can help. I will be looking for your next post with details.

ok, you want input. i'll let you know what my day is like. I start the morning with 1/4 cup to 1/2 c.of scrambled eggs. I add a little cheese, I like to use parmesan or low cal mozzarella. I eat it with some salsa. so nummy! I wait for 30 minutes, then starting sipping on tea (caffeine free) and Water. About 2 hours later I have a small Protein Shake, I eat everything very slowly. chew, chew, chew.

I either go outside for a walk or go to Curves to exercise. makes me feel so good to move and it has helped tone the fat from my legs and rest of body.

I eat a small lunch of tuna salad on lettuce.

again I wait 30 minutes to start drinking again.

If I feel I have the time i like to walk the dog. by the time I go to bed I feel good and I'm tired. Another good day.

I do not eat sugars, stay away from carbs as much as possible, have eliminated coffee and all carbonated beverages.< /span>

I feel I have been successful so far and am not in a rush to lose all the weight immediately. I carried a lot of fat

for many years. I want this to be a permanent life style change for the rest of my life!

I think the thing I enjoy most about this site, is all the advice and positive stories I read. you have to make the commitment to change. we want success, it is hear for you. be sure to read a lot of the posts. it will start to make sense and you will lose weight!

good luck!

I think your last statement said it all Mzclassy. You said " I don't know what I'm doing wrong besides eating". Are you eating the wrong foods? As you likely have read many times, the band is just a tool. To be successful, you have to work on the mind shift, away from the problem foods, like pizza and saltiness. Maybe you are eating healthy food and i misunderstood. But if not, take a look at your daily intake and see if it can be tweaked at all. Good luck !

Ok you guys, I was instructed to open up more with my diet so I am now doing so. My daily meal may consist of two eggs, beef bacon and grits. lunch is usually baked potato with chives and sour cream, lunch may be a baked chicken green Beans, and mash potatoes or rice. My Water intake is great, I drink about 7 or 8 bottles a day and if i want juice I only drink 100% no sugar added juice. For snack I like cheese, pickles, lots of fruit, or sometimes baked chips or saltine crackers. I must be honest, I havent worked in 5 weeks and onlt walks 2 or 3 times a week. So again what am I doin wrong?

I'm not a dietician , but that seems like a lot of food , lots of carbs Try going to myfitnesspal.com and track your food for a week. Do you have a nutritionist at your surgeon's office that could help you. I met with the nutritionist right before she advanced me to solid food. I had brought her print outs from "myfitnesspal " , so she was able to see what I had been eating , even though I was still in the mushy stage. She was big in to healthy foods and staying away from what she called "fluff", foods with poor nutritional value. It was helpful for me. But you gotta put in the work.

I agree. I think you may be getting too many carbs. Try tracking your food intake for a week or so. Myfitnesspal is a great way to track. It will help you see your daily numbers as far as carbs, prottein, Fiber, etc...

I must agree I think you are eating too much. Some people can lose without working out . . . but not if they are eating too much sounds like too many calories and carbs. An easy fix! I always lose real good on low low carb just can't stick to it really long but that is just me.

There is a lap banders group on my fitness pal so you can share dietary advice with fellow bandsters.

I would suggest upping hour exercise as well.

You are eating to much... Maybe when you get another fill, you will feel restriction.

Tell your Dr. or who ever does your fills, that you want a glass of Water, and adjusted sitting up !

They will give you the fill, but don't let them take the needle out of the port yet ! Let them give you a

little more so that when you swallow, it will start to feel hard to do. With your hand, motion to back off, and with your thumb up ,

tell her to back the plunger up. as soon as it drops threw. O.K. with the hand, because your still drinking. That will get you

some restriction for starts. (I just had a adjustment like this last week, and I feel good.)

It's not about the numbers that much, because were all different. So it's more on how you feel...

Go to myfitnesspal.com and sign up. It's FREE ! You can view other peoples Diary there, and see what they are eating.

Record your own calories, Protein, exercise, and it's kept in memory. Also if you see something interesting, you can chat with that

person. /I am Losingintime on that site. look me up and I'll friend you in.

You need more exercise also.

Remember, calories in, and calories out

Hope some of this helps.

Just asking,,, Ever had your Thyroid tested ? It's just a Blood Test. You might ask your Doc. when your there some day.

Shirley.

I love how honest people are on this site. we do not need someone to baby us. we want someone to help make us accountable. Accountable to ourselves!

my nutritionist always reminds me to start my meal with my Protein. Always. try to get protein every meal. there are so many good sites with recipe ideas.

You can do this. you already went through so much by having a surgery. we do not want to be quitters. We do not want to be quitters ever again.

Keep communicating, soon you will be telling us how your story has changed, for the better!!

Yes, you need to adjust your food intake. Are you not getting any Protein for lunch? It is important that you have mostly protein at every meal. Some times folks suggest doing the 5 day pouch test to get back on track. It is free and easliy googled. Good luck to you.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
