Breakfast ideas for someone who doesn't like eggs?

Recommended Posts

I'm having such a difficult time getting in all the Protein I need, especially since I don't know what to eat for Breakfast. I can only do the shakes so often, sometimes I just want some food instead of a shake. Any ideas? What do you have for breakfast?

Thanks!!

I just had a bowl of Cream of Wheat with cut up dried fruit and a little

margarine in it. Toast with Peanut Butter isn't too bad. Some folks eat

Greek yogurt. There are several breakfast threads in the foods section.

I'm not much of a dry Cereal eater, but a cheese danish would be good(joke).

I've tried eggs a few different ways and they always make me sick, so I know how you feel!

My favorite breakfast so far is a container of Greek yogurt with some Kashi Golean cereal mixed in. Lots of Protein and no tummyache afterwards!

I hate eggs. My band is usually tight in the morning so a Protein Shake or yogurt is all I eat.....plus two or three cups of coffee.< /p>

Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage Crumbles that I put in a frying pan (about a 1/2 cup), heat it up, top with shredded cheddar cheese, and melt. I then put some salsa on top of the semi sausage/cheeseburger patty to help things slide down. After eating and waiting about 15 minutes, I have 8-12 oz of a choc Protein Shake using Syntrax Nectar chocolate Truffle w/ skim milk.

A couple of egg alternatives that I eat are:

Quaker Oatmeal Weight Control (extra protein) made with a cup of 1% or skim milk

or

Greek Yogurt mixed with 1/4 cup of granola.

I make a breakfast protien smoothie. I use 4 big scoops of yogurt, 2 large frozen strawberries, a third of a banana, a scoop of eas 100% whey protien powder i think 42 grams protien, 3 or 4 frozen crystal light ice cubes made of fruit punch, and some crystal light fruit punch juice to keep thinks runny. then i blend it all. You can not taste the protien. I also throw in my 2 vicoden since i can not swallow them. i can not take anything bigger than a tick tack. It makes a rather large size cup of yummy. It keeps me full for 2 to 3 hours even tho it does go right thru the band. i have only 1 fill and i do not have restriction. when i take my first break at work i eat 1 packet of oatmeal and a wedge of quiche i buy at the deli.

1/2 cup cottage cheese with 1/2 cup fruit mixed in is one of my favorites! I often have to eat breakfast on the go, so I mix in one of the dole fruit cups (they're 1/2 cup servings, so no measuring needed). Make sure you get the fruit in it's own juice, not in heavy Syrup.< /p>

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
