Struggling this week

Recommended Posts

So I've had the band for 3 weeks now. No fill yet. My Dr. has my on low carb with food portions of about 1/2 cup sizes, but I can definately eat more than that. I'm really mad at myslef right now because this week I totally went off the diet. I traveled for work and ate smaller than pre-surgery, but way more that I should have and not low carb. I'm frustrated that I literally had surgery to loose weight and I already am not sticking to the diet!! Looking for some motivational tips. Anyone else struggled and bounced back with good success. Am I the only one at this stage having difficulty?!?

I so get what you are saying about falling back into the old ways. This is why they call this time bandster hell. I'm 2 weeks out and have had a great difficulty with portion sizes more than what I eat. It's hard to go decades of fat-filled meals and hourly Snacks to eating 1/2 cup of nutritionally filled food. Yes, this is the preferred way, but sometimes we fall...we have to go from this meal forward, realize our purpose, and forgive ourselves. We tell our kids to get back up when they fall...and this is what we must do for ourselves. I know this is much easier said than done because I'm fighting myself many hours of the day. I've gone from snacking on 2-3 candy bars a day along with at least a 12 pack of Diet Coke down to refried Beans and Malt-O-Meal. It's not easy, but ohhhh, it will be so worth it. My advice: take it one day at a time, keep a food journal, continue with the support groups and forum, and forgive yourself if you fall.

Im in the same exact boat! 3 weeks post op and Im eating like 1.5 cups of food instead of 1/2 cup and Im still hungry. On top of that the 3 times a day is cutting it, Im doing 4 and sometimes snack. Im eating way to many carbs and sugary items...I have no self control it's disgusting. I think Im going to try and do a detox to get rid of all these cravings, I dont know what else to do, I feel so frustrated. I did great the first 10 days, now Im totally ofdf the diet eating what ever i want and making it mushy. I need a fill bad! I want to feel tht fullness and restriction like I did the first week.

I have found it really helpful to log my calories. I use myfitnesspal.com Plus I invested in a set of kitchen scales, measuring cups and spoons to help me learn Portion Control. Six months post surgery and using all of these tools is second nature. My family are used to me eating much less than them now and are really supportive about not letting the crap get into the house in the first place!

Good luck.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
