Well my surgery was approved last Wednesday and I am all set for my surgery this Thursday. I started my general liquids diet today and on Wednesday I go to a clear liquid diet. I am surprised how calm I am right now only being 3 days away from the surgery. Good luck to everyone that has surgery today.

FMLA is your right! I am in the HR field. If you have worked 1250 within a year and the company you work for has more than 50 employees by law your boss must grant you Fmla. They must hold your job or an equal position with the same rate of pay for up to 12 weeks. If she does not they could have a big lawsuit on their hands. If she grants it to you and the gives you a hard time upon your return then you can sue for retaliation. Contact the department of labor first and then the EEOC if she doesn't grant it. Contact your companies HR department too! It makes me angry when employers try to bypass federal law!

Thank you Lisa. I am a nurse and work for a large hospital. I definatey supercede the requirements. I believe I worked more than 1700 hours. I actually spoke with HR today and they handled it thank goodness! They really had my back and I am grateful. They asked for me to obtain a letter from my surgeons office stating that it was medically necessary and then they would email my manager telling her that she needed to sign my paperwork. The one thing I noticed was that HR wanted my surgeons office to state what specifically that I was having done. I didn't think they could ask that due to HIPAA? I called my surgeons office and they wrote a vague letter to protect my health information by stating (This laparoscopic procedure was approved and deemed medically necessary due to health reasons, Approximate time off of work would be from such and such date to such and such date). I honestly believe nobody needs to know what I am doing except for my surgeon, and my family.

I was worried that HR wouldn't back me up, but I was very surprised at the help I have received. I have never taken FMLA ever so this was a whole new process for me. Thank you so much for the advice. :)

Leaving in about 15 minutes to head to the hospital for my surgery which is scheduled for 2pm. Mixed bag of emotions - nervous, excited, happy - knowing that I am on the threshold of a new life - a mulligan. Sigh . . . Life is Good! rolleyes.gif

Hey guys!!! My surgery is on November 15! My pre op diet is very strict compared to most that I have seen on this website. 3 Protein Shakes, I am doing muscle milk lite, and 8-10 glasses of Water. So far I have lost 15 pounds. I cannot wait!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
