After a tight fill-how long before you felt you needed a fill?

Recommended Posts

I had a tight fill August 23rd. I have had good days and bad days during the last 6 weeks.

I have tailgated and was able to eat a small portion of each meat. I have been able to eat crab legs out to dinner, but I have also not been able to eat much either. I need to take a long time to eat and to eat small portions. In general I eat very little portions. Ice cream and candy goes down fine-and I need to be super careful not to eat around the band.

I didn't really want to get an unfill because I figured this fill will eventually losen up-but it hasn't happened yet! How long before a tight fill were you able to eat regular amounts at meals?

Just curious, since this tight fill, how much have you lost? I read a post just the othe day about someone having a tight fill, but they liked it because it kept them from overeating and whatnot.

Good luck to ya!

I think it depends upon what you are comfortable with.

I like my band tight. My eating habits sound similar to yours. I have problems with most meats. Can only nibble at sandwich meats and cheeses. No bread. Steaks, etc, have to be very tender.

The new word for me is "Nibble" I really don't eat food like I used to, but "Nibble" at everything, and usually stop long before I get through.

My band is tight, and I prefer it that way.

I've read here about people freaking out when they get stuck for the first time. I was overjoyed! The band is working! Now I have to learn to live with it, and learn a new way of eating. Also changed social settings where food is at the center like back yard cookouts, etc.

I had a tight fill on August 4th. The first few weeks or so were rough - eating very little, getting stuck a lot, that subsided about 4 weeks after. 7 weeks after my last fill I felt I needed another. I am going for a fill today- 9 weeks later. I also get super tight around my time of the month. I hope that wasn't confusing - it was confusing to write!:unsure::blink:

Thanks for the info-it really helped! I was super tight the last 2 days-very tight and I got my period today! So maybe that was why I was so tight and had trouble getting food down. I didn't realize that your periods can make it tighter.

I am not sure how much I lost since getting this fill, but I guess around 13-15 pounds-not sure though. All I know is that each week the scale goes down and before it was at an absolute standstill! It's been 6 weeks and it's still a tight fill or maybe it's simply restriction? I mean I can get fluids down, no problem and I can get food down -small amounts. But I need to be very careful with what I put in my mouth-and no breads!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
