More pain day 2. WHY?

Recommended Posts

More pain day 2 post op. Why?

I had no pain until today. Today is day 2 post op. I had little to no pain yesterday and minimal right after surgery. Granted I forgot and lifted 3 bags of groceries about 4 Vitamin waters in each bag.

Should I call doc or just rest cannot lift. Pain isn't extreme, just didn't exist before. Any ideas?

Same thing as being in a car accident, you always hurt more the next day. Your body goes into almost a state of shock (plus you're on a buttload of meds) and then the next day its like an elephant stepped on you lol. I will tell you for myself days 2-3 were the worst and day 8+ I felt great. Take it easy! DO NOT OVER DO IT! You can end up with a tear inside of an incision or a hernia. You should be ok just please take it easy.

You should be resting.... Or at least taking it easy...

I have had Hernia Repair before, and it's NO fun at all !

You got a good thing going for you now,,,, Don't mess it up or trust me. You will be very sorry.

and there are no going backs to wish I hadn't done that.

Onlt more surgery.

the second day is always the worst, anestetic has worn off and now the pain sets in. don't lift, you will pop stitches. just relax and rest. let you body heal.

Thank you.

I didn't think about the iv Meds, duh me. No wonder I wasn't in paany pain at the hospital. Bus hitting me is pretty accurate. I was not thinking when I brought groceries in. I thought it was odd that I had no pain. Odd but cool.

Still don't have major pain just major discomfort. Some gas but walking makes it go away.

Oh well so much for Guinness book for having no pain after surgery.

Thanks everyone. I have been resting. I think the lifting did something bad. But better now. Still on pain Meds 6 days out. Not as much med as before but some, especially at night.

Weird thing is u can eat anything without much discomfort, why? Today I had 2 eggs and a fish patty. Is this normal for day 6?

I think you're really pushing it, Your body has just been through major trauma and needs to heal. At Cedars-Sinai in

LA, we were told the first week should be Clear Liquids, the second week, full liquids, week 3 & 4, pureed and mashed

foods, week 5, chopped foods and week 6 and later, solid foods including eggs. I'm sure you know all this and to

have your surgery be successful, you need to allow yourself to recover completely. I hope you have access to a

nutritionist to help you through this. Good luck.

I wouldn't think so. Start on full liquids, Protein Shakes, Jello and popcicles, quit lifting more than 10lbs and drink about 64 oz total liquids a day.

This is a bit of a rough patch until you get your first fill, but just keep your eye on what you're trying to acheve.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
