What do you like about your gym?

Recommended Posts

Last night I made plans with a friend. I was so excited all day about it. I couldn't wait to get home and meet up with her and start our exciting Friday night. Do you know what we did? We went gym shopping!!! :D

We checked out 5 different gyms. I was just wondering if anyone has any tips to share for choosing a gym. Things you wish you had considered before picking your gym or something you couldn't live without. Please share!

Anyone belong to an LA Fitness? Seems to be the nicest one with out a long term contract. Big and open. Lots of classes to choose from. A pool, hot tub and a sauna. :P

Thanks in advance!!

I think I have belonged to them all but LA fitness to me, as been the cleanest and most updated of them all. I can re join Ballys for 99 for the year, but havent looked at the ones nearer where I live n work. I hate driving far- and in traffic so, im thinking local community cneter for Zumba classes may be better for now? good luck,, best place to look ladies bathrooms... see if there is mold anywhere...

I would choose a gym that is between you and work. If you have to drive out of your way to get there you won't go. Make sure they will be open when you want to go early in the morning or late.

Les Mills classes at time that I can make are the deciding factor for me. I wouldnt even consider a gym that didnt have heaps of RPM and Body Pump sessions on each week. As well as about 75 state of the art treadmills, heaps of ellipticals and other cardio equipment. I like that with my gym, its YMCA run, so I have reciprocal rights at the other local large gym, and their timetables are complementary so it doubles the number of classes I can make and both are about the same distance from me.

I have been a member at several small local family run gyms and I find them no good - not enough equipment and poor timetables, with none of the commercial classes.

My gym and the other one I can use are both huge aquatic complexes too but the pool doesnt interest me very much. I also like that mine is right next to a large shopping centre as well, so on a weekday I can go to the gym in the morning and straight into the shops to do all my stuff or for a coffee. Not such an issue when I'm working.

Thanks everyone! I decided to use LA Fitness. I love that there are tons of classes, great childcare hours, a million cardio machines, huge spin studio (65 bikes!) , and it is sparkling clean. Also, with the membership I am able to use any LA Fitness so that means I can use the one right by my work on my lunch break to swim or get some cardio in. I am going tonight to try it out before I acutally sign up! I am so excited. Hope you all have a great week! :D

The health club I belong to has all the latest equipment, tons of different classes, personal trainers, etc. etc. Also has an indoor Olympic size pool. Also, there are 2 resturants, one a casual eatery that boasts a salad chef or Pasta depending on the days. The other is a upscale restaurant that I have never tried. There is a "spa", physical therapy office, and much much more.

But the reason I go there is because of the spacious locker rooms where, after a workout, I can sit in the sauna or steam room for 30 minutes, then the whirlpool for another 20. Then take a shower and put on fresh clothes.

It opens at 5am, and many are there before heading to work.

Sounds upscale, but it is really not that expensive.

The very first step in losing those belly fat on you would be to make a commitment to yourself that you would stay on to the program that you design all the time! Persistence is always the most important factor in really achieving good results in losing weight and having a good figure. Weigh yourself and measure your waist from time to time in order to monitor your own improvement. Do not give up when things doesn't go your way. Remember, the main factor is persistence! Especially since "me time" is very limited for a working women.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
