WINGS!!!

Recommended Posts

62 years old and "wings" are getting more and more pronounced, but I know that I do not want surgery. I do arm exercises, and am really trying to focus on them, but they just flap there and mock me! Anyone know of exercises other than weights? If weights, what weight is best, how many reps? Maybe I am doing it wrong. Thanks for any suggestions.

I am 63, and also, do not want PS. I, personally, have never seen anyone's arms that looked good after surgery. Mine look just as good from the front as theirs do. It is the back( where the batwings are) that look bad. Mine have gone down in the last year and 1/2, but are still pretty pronounced. I feel okay, and wear sleeveless or short sleeve anyway. I don't have any advice, but just wanted to co-miserate! Good luck, hope you get your answer! Karen

Most women make the mistake of not doing free weights. Weight machines are ok, but get some free weights. I dunno if you belong to a gym or not but skip the fluff machines and get a personal trainer if you are unsure. There are online guides you can google too. I hate, hate cardio. I have to force myself to do it. I love lifting. I'm a strength train junkie. the way the body takes to it is amazing.

I dont think weights will help with the extra skin its stretched and probably wont go back without surgery. We have to live with sagging skin or get surgery. Lifting weights unless your gonna take steriods and buff up like a man is not going to help the sagging bat wings.

Thanks, Karen. I am glad I have someone who understands. I agree about the surgery. I have never seen it look "okay."

Thanks, I will add more freeweights to my "fun." Not sure it will help, but I can at least say I gave it my best shot ;-)

I was helping my 95 year old mom get ready to go out yesterday, and noticed that SHE has batwings, too. I don't think she weighed over 130 even when pregnant. Maybe it is just my genes. Will exercise anyway. I'm not going to take steroids, so I might have to just accept my wings.

Do you beling to a gym? If so, have the trainer there show you tricep exercises that will tone up the area, sadly though there isn't any other way to rid yourself of the loose skin other than surgery. But toned will help make it look better.

There are tricep dips, provided you have the shoulder strength, and tricep extension with free weights. Either way, the machines do not truly isolate the triceps to tone them properly. Good luck!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
