Advice please..Supervised Diet

Recommended Posts

Why is it that some programs use your starting weight and some use your ending weight?

My clinic told me not to lose too much weight or I can be disqualifed by insurance (UHC).

I have been reading posts where others said the 6 mths was too see if your committed to losing weight. I have been losing and gaining it back to not go pass my 12 lb window. This is discouraging starting to wonder if I should just call it quits. I'm capable of losing weight have done it before but it always comes back. Now I'm on 3 blood pressure meds. Confused Advice please.

I can tell you what I would do. If I were you, I would try to make good eating choices to avoid gaining weight, but I wouldn't go on a diet in fear of losing too much weight. I, like you and many other on this site, have been successful with losing weight... But I've always gained it back plus some. I'm new on this journey, but I know i will never gain back the 40 I have lost because of this lap band. Don't give up :-)

Hi, im on a 90 day supv diet and I was told by my dr that for insurance qual purposes my initial weigh in is used, so feel free to lose and I he said the insurance co hopes that patients just go away and forget abt wanting to get surgery during the waiting period

You said it yourself (IT ALWAYS COMES BACK !!!)

Think about taking it off, and keeping it off, with everyday living. Not to mention It will help to maybe (I'M no DOC.) get off some of those meds.

If you must play the game of up and down just so you qualify, it's worth it...

Question to you is how bad do you want it ?

If you call it quits, you don't get to pick up where you left of. You start all over again. That's what the Ins. companies say. They hope you will throw in the towel, and they don't have to pay on you.

I do hope your at a Center of Excellence for excellent care.

But you need to answer to your own Gut, and Honest thoughts.

Can you do this un- assisted, and keep it off ?

Give that some thought.

Shirley.

I was to not lose weight too so I'm guessing they will use my ending weight. The first couple of months I had last support syndrome (lol) so ive really been working hard to make better food choices (non processed, lots of fruit and veggies) and ive gained 4lbs!! My last dr visit was friday and they are submitting me on monday! Fingers crossed and good luck to you!

Thanks ev1 for your response the information is helpful I'm guessing that every insurance is different. Will be losing 1-2 lbs a month, so I can be approved for insurance. Sounds rather stupid to be put on a diet and can't lose much weight. Who figures? Good luck to all on your journeys.

I felt the same way when they told me "not to loose weight on a diet" but I guess inorder for insurance to pay we have to follow their rules  I feel the same way and the waiting game is really difficult...especially considering I just started the waiting process.... Hang in there... I have faith that it will be all worth it in the end!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
