I don't think I'm supposed to have Jello or creamy Soup until tomoorw. Has anyone tried it early? I'm DYING for something in my stomach. Even just a creamy soup. I've decided if it isn't safe, then I'll just have to have it for Breakfast in the morning. But could it physically hurt me or the band if I tried a few bites of creamy soup tonight for dinner?

I wouldn't do it. give yourself time to heal. It is so important because you don't want to mess with what the docs just did for you. This is a gift, handle with care! Wait til tomorrow. You can do it! Stick with the doctors orders and you will be fine!

My doctor started me out on puree foods right after surgery......

It's so weird how different all of the doctors are. I only did 1 week preop liquids, but I see lots of people having to do 2 weeks. But e friend of mine only had to do 1 day. And everyones post op diets are different. That's what makes me wonder if I couldn't just have a couple of bites of a creamy Soup. But I don't want to regret it, ya know? Were you able to tolerate purees without incident right after surgery?

I had one day clear liquids pre op and 5 weeks post op before I could eat solid foods. You can do it and CONGRATS on being banded. :D

Hi! Everyone is obviously different and you want to follow doctors orders..but.... I was on a liquid diet for 5days pre op, then 1 week post. I was really strict with the diet surprising myself honestly :) When I went for my follow up I was told that I was healing so well, that I can start creamy Soups right away and they gave me a loose deadline as to when to progess my diet telling me to trust my body. Like others said, each doctor is suggesting different diets for each of their patients. The liquid diet prior to surgery is contingent on BMI I found out. I have had different questions that I wanted my doctor to answer, and I have called them. That's what they are there for! I would rather be safe than sorry!

Good Luck!

I only had to do a day of liquids then moved on to soft foods for the next 3 days then went onto solids. Every doctor does seem to have a different philosophy. Personally I dont think the Soup would hurt much. The only problem with 'creamy' Soups is that they are usually pretty fattening and have a lot of sodium, which doesnt help with swelling.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
