September 8th is also my set surgery date. I have so many feelings, I'm excited, scared, and a bit anxious as I've never gone through surgery before.

I have to complete my sleep study this Friday, and my endoscopy will be done Saturday morning.

Luckily I didn't have to go through sleep study or endoscopy....

I'm just hoping the 2 week liquid only pre-op diet doesn't drive me bonkers!

I got banded on August 26th and i was scared too but i promise you, you feel and remember nothing!!.. lol.. The most painful part of that day was getting the I.V. They came in, put something in my I.V and the next thing i remember is the nurse talking to me and telling me i was in recovery. I was so out of it, i looked at her and said.. "Did i get a lap band already?" She laughed and said yes. I was walking around 15 minutes after she woke me up. I went to the surgery center at 7am and i was home in bed by 12:30. My biggest suggestion for you is to take your pain meds before you go to bed after your surgery. I was so medicated from surgery that i didn't take any more pain meds and at 4am, i woke up in agony and tears. My mom immediately gave me the liquid pain meds but it took about 15 minutes to kick in. It was 15 minutes of hell. Stay ahead of your pain the first couple of days. Gas-x dissolving strips work great for the gas and they taste good too.

I was banded August 12th and I was scared before the surgery. I didn't have a pre-op diet and I'm glad I didn't. I think I would have turned back if I had a pre-op diet. However, post op, it's way different. You don't have the hunger and the liquid diet is not hard at all. It is a great start to a great journey. Although my journey has been very short so far, I'm still so excited about the lap band and the wrst side effect I've had is itching at my incision sites.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
