I feel the need to share of the Protein Drink I found by chance. It's GNC's Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60. It is soooooo good. I have chocolate. One serving is 3 scoops, sometimes I just use 1/3 or 1/2. It has 280 cals, 7g carbs, 2g sugar, & 60g protein! Everyone should try it.

Just be careful-that's a lot of calories especially if you are drinking more than 1 a day. I also love GNCs brands-I like Total Lean Choc (but all flavors are great). I think it has 170 calories with 23 grams of Protein. I simply do not like all the the thick pudding-like shakes out there.

Plus GNCs brand shakes don't seem to have the nasty after taste more brands have! Sounds like that shake would be great as a Meal Replacement shake!

hi! are you mixing with Water or milk??? i just recently bought the same brand but fruit punch flavor and i mixed it with Water. it was....not good. i have to take it back. the good thing about GNC is you can take back anything within 30 days if you don't like it. the man at the GNC store said that vanilla was the most popular flavor but i'm willing to try anything!

Hi Meglvn, I went out and bought the one you recommended and I start tomorrow...I wanted to ask you how you do yours...the bottle says 3 scoops and 12 ounces of milk...so for 1 scoop do you only use 4 ounces of liquid? Or do you add more liquid? Not sure...thanks

I'm pre-surgery but have been preparing my pantry. I bought a few flavors of the GNC 100% whey Protein powder.

http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2944017&cp=3703232

BOUGHT SO FAR:

-Vanilla and chocolate (2 lb canisters) - figured it's a universal flavor that I can mix things into. Saw on bariatriceating.com there are some good sounding Torani sugar-free Syrup flavors that you would use for coffee.

-Chocolate/Caramel (1 lb pouch) - I tried it in 8 oz. of brewed (Kuerig) coffee. Not bad, but I think I need to play with it a bit (maybe those sugar-free Torani syrups)

-Mixed berry (1 lb pouch) - As of today, I have not tried this one yet.

When I went to GNC the lady recommended: Isopure (http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2134407&cp=3593187.2108294):

Low in carbs

200 calories (Nutritionist stressed the PERFECT shake is under 200 calories and has at least 20 grams of protein)

50 grams of Protein

Isopure will be the next one I'll try (because GNC offers a "Gold Card" membership where you get 20% off the first week of every month). However, bariatriceating.com has some GREAT sounding protein options. All of the products on that site have been taste approved by their employees who have had bariatric surgery. Since they carry all different brands the website isn't partial to one brand.

I'm very interested in the Protein Shake info I find because even after we start eating regular food I would like to keep one meal as a Protein Shake every day.

I just love everyone's response & questions on here! It makes me feel very supported & supportive. Just wanted to say thanks first.

Now,

NJGirl-I haven't ever made a full one I usually just do 1/3 or 1/2 a serving & thank you I will take your suggestion on the total lean.

Foodlover-I have mixed it w/ both Water & I use Lactaid Fatfree Milk both taste good. The milk taste better but it adds more calories, of course.

Flamingjun-If I use one scoop then yes only 4oz liquid, or if I use 1 & 1/2 scoop 6oz liquid. Good luck!

MelissaNY-You could still try it & break it down like I have. A half serving is 140 cals & 30g Protein, not too bad.

Sorry for the late reply everyone. I hope I have helped.

Ive used this one for months before I even decided on wls. I use vanilla in Water or skim milk, only 1.5 scoops at a time though, thats 30 grams of protein! And it tastes the best out of any I've tried.

Just remember presurgery people dont go overboard on your Protein Shakes buying them because what taste good presurgery does not mean it will afterwards. I bought two flavors before surgery chocolate and banana and after surgery I could not drink the banana in any way shape or form and I went to a store that let you taste every brand they had. The banana was awesome before surgery but after no way it was aweful just could ot stomach it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
