Saying goodbye to food/Night time eating question.

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I am supposed to be losing pre-op weight. I haven't set a date yet, but my Dr. wanted me to start losing for surgery. Ever since I made the choice to get banded, I feel like I need to experience my favorite foods before I can't have them for a while. Anyway...it worries me that I think like this. I have a consistant workout routine and have only gained a pound......but still it doesn't matter b/c it's all about where my head is at. I'm worried that I will get banded and still have the urge to eat after I have already finished a meal, or what if I have room in my stomach before my first fill? I always start the day out great with egg whites or a Protein shake....lunch is usually ok. As soon as dinner time and the time after dinner roll around - all I want to do is have a snack attack. I guess what I wanted to know from any night time eaters or anyone out there was this: has anyone else felt this way before getting banded? Has anyone noticed that the band decreased appetite? Not like....hungry for Breakfast, lunch, or dinner appetite....but after dinner appetite? This is something that I need to work on with or without a band...I think it's going to take a long time.

I have the hardest time at night, esp when hubby Snacks. I make sure that I have something to nibble on that wont make be binge. Like 1 skinny cow ice cream or half salt white popcorn. a small amount of triscuts with low fat cheese. I am not really hungry, Just looking to munch on something. the band will NOT stop you from eating, you still have to stop you........I ask myself when I get the munchies at night "am I really hungry or do I just want to eat" It is almost always, I just want to eat.....

First, you're not the only one who thought I better eat all of the things I really like before I get banded, it's a pretty normal thought fort people on here. Expect that you will still have to address the mental addiction to food long after you get banded. Your mind doesn't change just because your body does. It will be an ongoing battle. The band is not a switch that turns off your addiction, it's just a tool.

Who is in your house? The reason i ask is bc if the bad food never comes in then you cant eat it. Dh and i made a deal. He goes to the store and buys his own junk and then it goes into a solid colored large container in the pantry. I cant see it and i dont open it. I havent even seen him eating it so i think hes doing it when im not around. At night i have sf Jello and then i go brush my teeth. And i also felt the need to have all of my fav foods. I decided about 2 wks ago to get into band mode as i am getting banded next month.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
