ANY HOPE OF RESTRICTION AFTER FIRST Lap Band FILL????

Recommended Posts

My first fill is this Tuesday Aug. 9. That will be exactly 5 weeks post-op. Like many before me, I'm on 800 calories per day (per the surgeon) since going to solids and, of course, with a healed stomach i've been really, really hungry - but struggling through it. From many posts i've read - people do not hit a nice restriction level until 2-5 fills or more. My question is has anyone gotten relief/restriction off of the first fill (I know the amount of the first fill varies by surgeon but still...). I guess I'm just looking for hope - as I have been so, so hungry the last few weeks.

I had my first fill in june. He tried 3 cc and it was way too tight so he pulled back .2 so I am at 2.8 cc. I have awesome restriction. So awesome that at my last visit I lost 16 lbs and didn't need any adjustments. I average 800-1200 cals a day. I am really hoping this lasts. I was under the assumption it would take many fills to get in the green zone.

Good luck!

Hi! I had my first fill a week ago and it has made a world of difference! I didn't feel much restriction at all after surgery, but this fill sure did the trick! I have to eat slowly, chew really well and stay away from certain foods or else it gets stuck and/or comes back up. My surgeon put in 2cc's when the band was put in and then my first fill was 2ccs more. Let us know how it goes after your fill!

I'm glad you posted this I too am concerned about my first fill. I like responses you got and now

I'm hopeful. I keep reading about tne "sweet spot" and wondered what that was. Now I know from reading the responses.

I had my first fill on August 3rd and still feel no restriction. I fact I feel like I am hungry all the time lately. I am so worried that I stretched my pouch. My PA stressed only eating a cup of food at a sitting and yet I'm still so hungry. I am hoping that my next fill in Sept will help give me some kind of restriction.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
