Hi all -

New here. I was banded last week on 7/27. Doing great. No nausea or vomiting, just some sore incision sites and sore left shoulder. Oh yeah, starving! So over the liquid diet but I am obeying. :)

This is my question. I am losing a lot of weight rapidly. I am on day 6 and have lost 22 lbs. I am not complaining at all but is this normal?

Quick weightloss in the beginning is normal. Just make sure you go to your post-op appointments. They'll let you know if something doesn't seem right.

PS: Cherish these days! In a few months you'll be as grumpy as the rest of us! j/k. Congrats on the 22lbs.

it will slow down...way down..once you start eating solids. There will be times that you question why you got this thing because you won't understand why your weight is stalling. But hang in there, get your fills, get your restriction and pick the healthy foods like Protein and then green stuff. I also can't stress exercise enough. It's the only reason I allow a little junk in my life, though not overboard.

Yes, I agree with Janiece. Enjoy it girl, because it will slow down  . I was banded 6/17/11 and had lost 21 lbs in 2 weeks. My weight loss has slowed down but at least I'm losing. Good luck!

Very normal; you're experiencing a loss of Water weight and a decrease in glycogen levels, so yes, normal, to be expected, but it won't/doesn't last for long.

Thanks all! I had a feeling it wouldn't last but I'll enjoy it for now. This forum is definitely a great place to be. Have a great week!

I have lost 26 lbs since starting the full liquid diet 5 days pre surgery, I am now on post op day 6 so 26lbs in 11 days! I also had the Plication along with my band does anyone else have this and from what I have read it seems as though the rapid weight loss lasts longer with plication patients?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
