HELLO- new here!! Army Wife in Kansas!

Recommended Posts

Hello...I'm new here and new to this lap band world! :) I was banded just a few days ago- 7-19-11 so I'm still recovering and still on liquids. I'm getting pretty bored already with the liquid diet BUT I"m looking forward to a new life!!!

I am a very very proud army wife and my husband is currently on his 4th deployment away from us!! He is going to be very shocked when he gets home 10 months from now and sees my progress!!! :) He does know that I got the surgery done but I don't plan on sending him any pictures of my progress just so I can surprise him!! :) Well off to walk some of this bloated feeling off! Still in pain when I get up and down and i"m sure hoping that subsides soon!!!

Thanks for having me! :)

Welcome and congrats on your surgery! I am an Army wife and in Kansas also. I had my band done in April. It has been the best thing I have ever done for myself and my children. I think it will be a wonderful surprise for your hubby when he returns. I would love to be able to surprise my hubby like that. But I am enjoying the fact that as I lose weight he is looking at himself a little closer and has dropped a few pounds too!! Good luck on your journey!

Welcome. I think it is very brave of you to do this while your husband is deployed. I don't think I could do it without my husband here to support me. But what a great surprise when he returns. I wish you the best if luck and hope to see you here often.

Welcome to our forum and congratulations on your surgery. Very brave of you to do this while he is deployed. All the best to you and hope that you are surviving the heat ok. Stay hydrated! We look forward to progress updates. The next time you talk to your husband, tell him thank you for his service to our nation and for his personal sacrifice. It is deeply appreciated!

Take good care,

Aaaww thank you! We dont get many thank you's!! He says it's just his job...its what he loves to do, so I will be here supporting him until he's finally home! :) I think it's actually easier on me to do this while he's gone b/c he's a friend chicken, mashed taters kind of guy so now I don't have the temptations in front of me in my own kitchen on a nightly basis! I hope I can keep on target though with out his motivation skills! :)

Hi! I am an Army wife in Virginia, I was banded in June. Three days after my husband came home from training. The first stages were soooo hard! Especially because my hubby is the meat and potatoes kinda guy too! I am on the stage where I can eat what ever I want, I just have to watch what I eat. That to me is the hard part!

Adding my thank you for your service as well as your husband's. I know you don't want to send him pictures of yourself, but how about increasing his anticipation by sending him an occassional (sp?) picture of a piece of clothing which is now too big for you? Just a thought.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
