I really don't think I can do it

Recommended Posts

I think you are just having a case of last minute nerves. Your surgery is a week away and you're getting scared. It's understandable. You are very young and probably never been through anything so life changing before. I think most of us can relate to the pain of being the fat kid...I know I can. You want to feel better about yourself and probably want to "show them". While losing weight isn't going to change who you are on the inside it will change how you feel about yourself. You will eventually become more confident and happier with your reflection. You don't have health issues now, but you are right. If you stay on your current path you will have them eventually. You're a beautiful girl with your whole life ahead of you and you deserve all the happiness you can get. If losing the weight will contribute to that happiness then you should do it. Don't worry about the surgery or the pain afterward. It's really not that bad. With youth and good health on your side it will probably be easier for you than it was for some of us who are older and less healthy. You should discuss your concerns with your mom or whoever is your biggest supporter. Good luck, I'm sure you'll make the right decision for you.

Cindy

Hello Cindy ,

I think that was very kind of you to tell this young girl.

People do not come to this room to get told off but to get help and understanding. I think you did that very well for her.

Take care

18Dreamer.... My husband has a saying that he uses "Don't let your old self hate your young self." If you really don't think the band is for you, maybe its not but neither is being 300lbs. How do I know that? Because NO ONE is healthy at that weight. The things you do when you are in your teens and twenties will start to catch up with you in your 30's. We have ALL had our health issues here that can be directly related to weight. Some of those issues are serious and deadly. Trust me, you do not want to be thinking about life and death in the prime of your life.

You have the choice to add years to your life. Whether its with the band or not... that is your decision to make but don't let your fear of change keep you in that 300lb body. You deserve SO much better. You are worth so much more than that.

VERY WELL SAID!!

This post helped me, THANK You!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
