Prejudice, who me?

Recommended Posts

Well, not against color or religion. Or any other major way. Nope, I think I have a thing against skinny people. I bought my husband a TiVo for Christmas. I'm a food Network junkie. I love Paula Deen. I'm a big southern girl...so she's right up my ally. Bacon grease, butter..yum. So my husband thought I would also enjoy Sandra Lee- semi homemade - I guess for the convenience. I tried watching it a few times, but just couldn't get into it. She weighs about a buck o five. It shows her tasting her dishes...then it usually cuts to commercial ( I think so she can spit it out). It also gets on my nerves that she wears clothes and redecorates her kitchen to match the food that she is cooking. This means window treatments and all. Who has the time for all of that crap? I have replaced Sandra Lee for Barefoot Contessa. I find comfort in her size and it's easier for me to relate to her. She, like me, has a passion for food- just like Paula Deen. I'm sorry, but I don't trust a skinny chef. :)

I LOVE Paula Deen, don't care for Sandra Lee at all. Hmmm, I think there might be a connection... :hungry:

this is very interesting. Not sure why, but I'll have to think about it. My friends are always surprised when I feed them something delish... I mean really! Do I look like I eat bad food?

My favorite chef is Alton Brown, but he is skinny and goofy. I followed his recipe for brined turkey at Thanksgiving and everyone told me not to change a thing about the dinner--it was perfect. He's so scientific--I love that.

I don't know how those chefs stay that skinny...maybe all the good smells in the kitchen overwhelm their senses and they don't crave those lovely dishes like I do...

Prejudiced agains skinny people? Yeah, I admit it. But, I try to look at the skinny person and not judge soley on body size. Plus, I don't get that instant recoil unless they are that NATURALLY thin, beautiful person. Regular sized chicks don't bother me. (you know, size 12-14-16). I guess my ENVY manifests itsself in a very judgemental way.

Of course, a Witch is a Witch at any size - and I have met my share of the skinny & the fat. And I just have an instant dislike of anyone, male or female, that has skated through life SOLEY on their natural perfect beauty.

Open your mind to the skinny people... some of them are really sweet.

I had an assistant who was cute, blonde, petite, a perfect size 2 or 4. My knee-jerk reaction was that I just KNEW why they hired her... But I pushed that down and gave her a chance. She's a great gal. I love her to death. But I had to get past that initial prejudice before I could know that. Besides, I am working through that response. Now-a-days I think of MuffinBirdie/Mae - who was once a big girl - but is now a perfect, petite, cute size 4. She didn't have any natural advantage - she had to work for it. Nothing to be jealous or hateful about, there. Admiration... But if I met her without knowing that she had once been big, I might assume (you know the old saying) that her cutie size 4 perfection was entirely natural. It would be sad if I never gave her a chance.

Besides, I have this secret fantasy that some day, maybe I will wear a size 8. Wouldn't it be stupid to hate skinny chicks, if I became one?? And how can we successfully become what despise?

Yep. I am working on that whole prejudice thing...

I see what you mean. I know there are nice skinny chicks. Now, I hate me and I am fat. I certainly don't want to hate me when I'm skinny. I just don't dig skinny chefs.

I'm with you Thinjen! I cannot stand Sandra Lee! My eyes automatically roll when I see her on food TV. She (or her production assistants) needs to get a life, because no one with a life and any commom sense would have the time or inclination to coordiate their wardrobe with the curtains and the serving dishes! Plus, her food doesn't seem that appealing to me. Give me Paula and the Contessa anyday!

I don't have much of a problem with Sandra Lee except the fact that all of the recipes i've tried from her show taste TERRIBLE!

So maybe i'm predjudiced against bad food?

Hey, maybe that's why she's skinny. If all of my food tasted like a big pile of crap, maybe I'd be skinny, too. Wonder what it would taste like if you put ranch dressing on crap:confused:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
