Fizzled Out

Recommended Posts

I dont know why it happens, but it happens to me with every diet/weight loss program/exercise program I have ever been on. I am all sorts of gung ho about things, and I get amazing results then once I hit the same mark with a weight loss of 50 pounds or more, I fizzle out...the enthusisim and ambition that I started out with is gone....And this holds true still. I had surgery, was very fortunate to get it.....I was making awesome progress, keeping on tract with everything and sticking to the letter. I lost 55 pounds and now....ththththththup...(thats me giving a raspberry) I get very passay about my diet, I dont exercise...I dont know if I just figure AHH I lost enough....or AHHH I dont have to do this any more....or what the deal is....but I am at one of them fizzled out spots, and I still have a way to go till I meet my goal. I am just soooo not into a food jouranl, and exercising and water.....its passed its glory with me....and I dont know how to get that enthusism back....I can say Im tired, or I have been thru sooo much that I am overwhelmed...blah blah blah....but I am my first priority and I just dont know how to rediscover that committment once its gone. Anyone else feel that way? I use to be faithful with my weigh ins...I was soo proud of my accomplishments....I would call my father every Sunday with the weigh in, now ~ Not so much.....I find myself sneeking more and more of the things I can't/shouldn't have~~~ I have just lost it. Wheres my spark?

:)

Porclindoll I deffinatly know how you feel...seems like latley my spark is gone too!!! :faint: I keep looking for it and trying too snap out of it .. It seemed to start back at the holidays I got careless and unconserned with my weight loss and kept saying oh well after the holidays I'll do better.. I did better for a few days and seemed to have fell off the band wagon again. My weight is going up a pound down a pound... the yoyo has returned!!! I'll just sit here with ya porclindoll and see if someone can wack:frusty: us both up side the head and snap us out of this viscous cycle:bowl: of self distruction!!!:angry

Moral support, here! I am with you on the complacency angle...it started for me, like Jamie, during the holidays. I'm just now starting to get my spark back, and it goes out with the first puff of an obstacle. Isn't that the beauty of the band, though? While we are stuck in a rut, it's still there, guarding us and protecting us from ourselves. So, porclndoll, Nana, Jammin' and Losin'....since we're all in the same boat, let's row it together! We've seen this foe before...we know what to do! Thanks for posting about it! Cindy

Ladies, I am right there with you. I can't seem to get back into my "zone". I was exercising everyday, doing something and it is like...gone. Luckily I haven't gained anything, but I haven't lost anything either. I am trying to get back on track with my next meal. Ok...so I am going to go put my tennys on and go do an exercise video and drink 24 oz of Water before bed. Ready...set...go!

This was my biggest problem preband, for me the limit I could reach was about 8kg lost, I would feel better, feel thin (even though I'd been horrified when I hit that particular weight on the way up) and lose my mojo.

I love love love exercise, but I'd let it slide, start putting the weight back on.

I've gotten past that previous limit with the band but I still expect the same thing will hit me somewhere down the track.

Perhaps try something different exercise wise? Something that you'll have a bit of excitement and enthusiasm for for a while. It's not great for you to do the same old same old for ages anyway.

I had the frumpies last week and seem to have gotten over that, but nope, I don't have my spark. Where'd it go? I suppose I'll get it back. I swear it's the winter months. Spring will come and it will stay daylight longer. That will help me loads. I'm riding this out. I'll get my spark back. For now I'm resorting to baby steps. Drinking Water, just maintaining for now. Quit beating myself up. I get so tired of doing that.

Wow, thanks guys. Its "nice" to know I am not in the boat alone...Humm what inspires me, what inspires me......Happy Boots, Halloween, Shopping for nice clothes, not having pain in feet/legs/knees/back any more, longer life with my son, ~Italy~ Maybe thats the reward, right there...I can not go to Italy until I learn the language enough to survive there and until I loose my weight.........hummmm theres an idea....I "ONLY" have about 50 pounds to go.......If I lose 2 pounds a week, it will take me 25 weeks to loose that 50 pounds. However, its going to take me two years to save enough money for the trip...:) sooo maybe the reward will be learn the language, loose the weight and maintain the weight loss till a certain date, after I save the money for the trip.....hey, that maybe a plan~~~~ Sooo I can go to Italy, lookin all sexy in the Happy Boots~~~well, I all ready look sexy in the happy boots.....:thankyou:

Well, I did it...I went and did a step video...my 3 year old made sure I did it to. At one point, there was just stepping up and down on my step and everytime I would go to step up, my son would push on my rear to "help" me up on my step. I guess he knew I needed the extra push...lol. I even drank my water..yea!!! C'mon Doll...let's find that spark and get our butt in gear to go discover Italy...those Italian studs are looking for the sexy new you!!!! ;-)

Okay guys....I think I beat the frizzies....And Im not talking hair here~~~ I bought an exercise "machine" I guess you would call it. One of them Gazelles that Tony Little is always jumping around on the late night infomercials. Course half of the work out was putting the damn thing together...but I am a chick with a tool box, so within about 1/2 hour it was all done, ground up!!! I broke out my resistance bands too~ (those are just huge rubber bands of different tightnesses used for pilaties and streaching exercise) My goal for tomorrow is to wake up a little earlier, like 1/2 hour earlier and do my Gazelle for about 15-20 minutes, then get ready for work. Im gonna see how I can incorporate my resistance bands with the Gazelle. I was on the Gazelle for about 8 minutes after I set it up...had to make sure the screws were in tight enough and what better way than to actually jump on and go right??? And lemme tell ya, in that 8 minutes, I worked up a little sweat. So tomorrow morning Rob Zombie and I have a date in the walk man and the Gazelle can watch~~ eheheheheh

Well, I havn't been on the gazelle since that first day. "Aunt Flo" came to town and she was a real pain! ah! I didnt feel like breathing let along exercising. How ever she has packed up and left town, so hopefully tomorrow I can get up and get on it. I look foward to it. My mom has even sparked a curiosity in it. My mental attitude towards a lot of things have changed and hopefully that will be enough to get me up and exercising. I have been walking alot more than usual. I walk on my lunch break at work, and every chance I get...Maybe that will make a difference too~

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
