45 lbs gone ... but

Recommended Posts

I have lost about 45 lbs but my issue is I can still fit into the same clothes. Is that normal? I am ready to be able to go down in clothing size.

I lost 42lb ...40% of my weight loos goal and did not go shopping yet.

Had planty of tight fit clothing that fit good now :-)

Also have a separate closet for clothes that are too big now - have hard time donating them... keep thinking "what if"

I'm 31 years old. For the most part, I've worn size 24 pants for over 15 years. My weight has ranged from about 280 up to around 350. It was only when I briefly hit 360+ pounds that I went to a size 26 pant. So I have a feeling I'll be wearing the same clothes for a while.

My starting weight was pretty close to yours and I've lost 46lbs, alot of my tight clothes are still tight and most of my clothes that fit perfectly before fit almost the same now. I guess this is normal. I've also kinda been the same size in clothing for the last 10 years, and in that 10 years (not counting current weight loss) I gained 100lbs. So size can be a strange thing, I feel smaller but my clothes pretty much feel the same. Although I do need smaller underwear..

I didnt start needing to clean out my closet until recently and I just hit the 85 lbs lost mark. For me I never realized how many elastic waist things I had... and elastic stretches... and even stretches back....well to a point. LOL I am at that point now. Just bought a regular ladies sized large shirt and donated bags of 2 and 3 x items! Its a wonderful feeling!

You too will get there. One day everything will be just too big to get away with wearing!

The good thing about this site is that you find people like yourself who are going through the same thing. I too have lost 45lbs and am just now beginning to see significant changes in my wardrobe. Some things have become way too big, others just a little, and others not at all. I do know that clothing makers don't all use the samemeasurement to size, and a 20 could come in varying sizes. I finally got into a pair of jeans that I have had for over 10 years. I didn't wear them long way back then so they still look new. I am so excited! I need to work on tightening up my stomach muscles - I'm sure you all know how things can start hanging - making your belly look bigger in clothes. Sit-ups...here I come?!!!:P

It took about 50lbs for me to be able to really see a difference. In dresses, I could wear a lot of the same dresses until I lost 75lbs. Pants seemed to be about every 35lbs until I was in a 16/18. I think it really depends on the types of clothing you have in your closet.

To me, if you are saving your old clothes that dont fit you anymore its because your thinking of going back to those days and maybe fitting into to them. get rid of them and kiss those days good bye for good.

Jus my opinion :)

I have lost 63 and have gone from a 26 to a 20, I think now it will take a lot more to get into an 18 but I know I will. You need to get rid of all those clothes! I have three shirts and four pairs of shorts and my workout clothes (I just got rid of my to big work out clothes, I will admit to hanging onto those to long!) Oh and a couple work shirts. I just can't make myself spend money on clothes when I know I will only wear them a few months. Get out of the strech pants, they will fit forever, get something fitted, you will she more changes in your body that way. Good luck

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
