Someone PLEASE HELP!!!

Recommended Posts

So I had my first fill after surgery on April 6th. Since my surgery I have lost almost 30 pounds. I am at a stand still in my weight loss. Maybe I shouldn’t complain because 30 pounds is a lot of weight and I have gotten so many compliments. I’m thinking about never getting a fill again, because everything I eat gets stuck unless it is something that is unhealthy like Cheetos. I have eaten them so much that I can’t stand the taste anymore. So, are there any healthy recipes out there that will allow me to stay healthy and not get stuck!!! I threw up almost every day last week because nothing goes down. It’s almost like torture…so if there is anyone out there who can help me make this a pleasant weight loss journey I would appreciate your feedback.

Persistent vomiting can cause band slippage. It has probably caused come swelling and you should go get some of your fill removed until the swelling goes down. When you are too tight bad foods go down much easier than good ones. I suggest you get the Cheetos out of the house! 30 lbs in a month is great but you aren't going to continue at that rate. I lost 33 the first month and only 6 the second!

You're too tight, so you eat slider foods, it will result in you not losing your weight. Most slider foods are fattening and unhealthy and your weight loss will become very slow or non-existant plus yes, you are increasing your risk of band slippage. Get an unfill you should be able to eat solid protiens and veggies.

Good luck to you!

Didn't your clinic explain to you about your band being too tight? I think it is rediculous that some of these clinics run people through them like cattle and never explain anything to them. I think a good education about the band, how it "really" works, and what certain things mean, (like not being able to keep food down, is a must to be sucessful! You should call your dr. / clinic today.

Thank you all so much! I figured it would get easier as the month went on, but I was starting to hate that I got the lap band. I called my Dr. and have an appointment this afternoon to get an unfill. YES! Slider foods are the enemy! Right now I am not even able to eat fish or a salad, so I've been eating whatever I could keep down. It was so annoying that I would not even want to eat, which isn't good either. I love healthy food and I am excited about being able to eat normal, healthy foods. I don't think eating should be unpleasant. I want to enjoy this ride. Anyway, thanks again!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
