:help:

Hi everyone,

I had an x ray today as the surgeon had thought that I had a tubing problem but worse he said that I have a problem in the ballooning,. and that it is no longer connected.

Sorry I don't know if there is a technical term for this? but that my band would need to be replaced.

I am not thrilled at the thought of having to be re banded, my weight pre banding was 250 lbs and I am now 206, I was banded in September 04 and to be honest I can say I don't really know what it is like to be banded as I have had to really diet and watch everything I eat just to maintain this weight. I would appreciate all your feedback as I am really anxious about this and I know a lot of people on here have lots of knowledge.

thanks Ruth

I'm sorry to hear of your trouble, Ruth. It sounds like your band really just came apart. I've never heard of that, though I have heard of tube problems before. Perhaps the band itself is defective? If that's the case, maybe Inamed would give you a new one.

What sort of feedback are you looking for? If the band in your body is not creating restriction and limiting your intake, it's not working. A technical problem is the cause; it's not your fault that it's broken. Unfortunately, though, it won't fix itself.

Ruth, I'm sorry to hear that you need a new band. I'm curious from your post... do you mean that you've never had restriction with your band?

Yes I have got restriction in that I can still get blocked if I eat too fast or don't chew properly but I never have that full feeling after eating a small amount of food, we thought I had a tubing problem as I had many fills and kept going back for more. ON reflection I think I may have had a problem with the band from pretty much the start as I never got that feeling of i'm really full or experienced any fill problems. My surgeon is not charging me for the new band as my health fund will cover this and usually he charges out of pocket cost but I suppose as the band is faulty he's doing it at a lesser coast. ( I live in Sydney Australia) and the medical fund cover the band.

I was just needing support and wondered if anyone else knew of or had this problem

Cheers Ruth

Sound like the tubing disconected from the band and the band is deflatting??

I've been re-banded due to a faulty tube that kinked and produced a hole in the kink.

Once I knew I had a problem I wanted the problem solved, even if it ment re-banding.

It's good to know your doctor is not charging you.

Crap happens

I'm proud of you being able to loose and diet with a problem tube/band.

Cheers and Hugs to you Ruth

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
