Easter Dinner

Recommended Posts

How is everyone handling Easter? We usually go out each year-will this be the end of my Easter Dinners?

Nope, not unless you want it to be :)

The thing i love about the band is that it lets me enjoy holidays-- but at a reasonable amount. Take a bite or two of everything you love, enjoy it, and you'll stop before you get so stuffed you have to take a nap.

And then the next day go back to your regular eating plan. Simple.

yea, just don't go crazy! I go out all the time, I just allow myself no more than half of the dish I order. And I try to make it something some what healthy.

Sure, go out, and if its sit down, ask for doggie boxes. You can share the remains at home. Or, if you go to a buffet, just get a little of what you like. I am having dinner at home. I will cook a ham, potato salad, anti-past, deviled eggs. I won't take too much of anything, but always eat off a dessert plate. I am, also, making a gluten free Breakfast casserole for before church, as we won't go until 11:00am. You can do it. It is not the end of living, you know! Karen

I LOVE this forum- I feel so much better after reading all the replies thanks and Happy Easter :D !

I'm with you on that one. I think I'd lose my mind and/or fail miserably without all the support I get from everyone on here. Happy Easter to everyone!

As a diabetic, there is no such thing as going of my diet because it's not a diet. It's the way I have to eat unless I want to be right back on my insulin again.

So we're having baked ham, roasted asparagus (drizzled with olive oil, Kosher salt and cracked pepper), deviled eggs, baby potatoes and homemade rolls (both only for others) and a cherry pie for the troops and a cupcake sized mini sugar free cheesecake (homemade) for me.

ElfiePoo, you are making me hungry :D That roasted asparagus sounds lovely, I'll have to try that!

I was on my pre-op diet for Christmas AND nobody but my husband knew I was about to have surgery (they still don't know that I had it). I felt a little deprived but it was the first Christmas that I ever lost weight. What I learned, though, was to focus on the other parts of it than food...,the family, providing good hospitality, my kids, etc. For once Christmas was not about getting so stuffed I would have to roll away from the table! And it wasn't so bad. I guess it kind of depends what headspace you are in but if you teach yourself to focus and enjoy the other aspects, even while you're out at the restaurant, you can get through it. And of course, have a little bit of the good stuff too, just set a reasonable limit.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
