Welcome to the board. I go to Dr Malley's practice and Dr. Fearing did my surgery at New Hope Bariatrics. I really recommend New Hope and Dr. Fearing, and the seminar (if you haven't gone yet) is very informative.

The one thing I will say about Malley Surgical Weight Loss is that when you make your appointments for follow-ups and fills, make a few of them in advance as the doctors' schedules book up. The reception staff didn't ask to do that for me automatically, then looked at me like I was an idiot when I couldn't get in within 2 weeks for a fill because someone at their reception should have scheduled the appts in advance. Oh well.

Im going to the seminar on the 23rd of this month. How long did it take you to get to the point of surgery after you did the seminar? Ive seen some take a year, six months and as little as 2 months. Im also concerned about my insurance I have Tricare Prime and Im a 100lbs over weight but dont have a comorbity other than insulin resistance due to PCOS. You dont by chance have Tricare?

I went to the seminar in late January and had my surgery on 2/17 - a few weeks later. I had mine so quickly because I was self-pay, so I didn't have to jump through any insurance hurdles.. My insurance doesn't cover bariatric surgeries.

One thing to understand about insurance is that it really doesn't matter who the insurance company is, but what the insurance plan is. For example, one person with BCBS through their employer may have bariatric coverage while someone else with BCBS from another employer may not have coverage. Some employers opt out of bariatric coverage to keep their premium costs down. This is the same reason why infertility treatments and cosmetic surgery is not covered.

Often times insulin resistance and PCOS are not considered co-morbitities. I have both IR and PCOS too. Start the process, and Dr. Malley's office will do the legwork to find out what you need to do to get insurance approval. Their team is really quick with those responses!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
