Help! Am I feeling the band?

Recommended Posts

I was banded on March 24th, so I'm about 2 1/2 weeks out and the last few days I've been feeling something when I lay down. When I roll over on my side (either) I feel like I'm feeling the tubing rub against my muscles. When I lay on my stomach I feel a hard lump below my chest. Is this normal? Am I feeling the band? I've never felt anything like this before. Help!

Your port maybe? You won't ever feel your band lol..it's inside of you nowhere near the surface.

Having the same feeling. I cant lay on my right side because I feel like the lower part of my stomach is being crimped in half like a garden hose. When i lay on my left side I feel like I am laying on a lump. Cant lay on my stomach. Its been getting better each day and I think it is just because we are still swollen. I was Banded March 23. Everyone says it will get better. Best of Luck to you!!!!!!!

Thank you both! It makes me feel crazy because it's an indescribable feeling. I know I shouldn't be able to feel the band because I'm so large but it truly feels like someone put a lump below my chest. And I really think I'm feeling the tube from the band to the port. When I roll on my sides, I really feel something long and thin rubbing across my muscle. I think I may call my doctor's office tomorrow just to double check. If it was the swelling that would make a lot of sense. I'm to the point where I don't like moving off my back (when sleeping) at all because the feeling is so strange!

It's the port. I was banded in January and had the same feeling. Now that I've lost over 30 pounds, its really apparent where the port is when I feel around. Sometimes, my port area is sore and I still can't get comfortable laying on my stomach. But overall, it does get alot better. Hang in there.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
