FYI... when I met with Dr Kirshenbaum in January he told me he had done 8 bands so far.

Happy Friday!

DrewsLou, 8 bands are not really that many!?

I would b every hesitant to go there - I know Dr. Snyder said he had done about 350 the last years. Much better ratio - and sofar very good statistics- no problems with bands eroding or slipping or other complications. One of his patient did not so good- but that was not band related!

He's awesome - he always goes like the energizer bunny- if you could bottle his energy my gosh.....

But he will take the time to explain everything to you - even 2 or three times just to clarify it. He is also very thorough. You will like him- go meet him at one of his free seminars- there are always uddels of former patients there and at the end you can talk to everybody and ask questions- some of his staff is there too - for insurance questions or nutrition or just everything- my DH and I were impressed!

Good luck to you - I will keep you informed.

Michmouse;

just one question - I have to go in tomorrow for my post op's- Dr. Snyders and the hospitals. What did you have to do?:help:

Archermom,

The hospital did an EKG, blood draw, vitals, and asked me a ton of questions relating to my medical history. Dr. Snyder just talked to me, looked at my stomach and that was it. Short and sweet. I spent about 30 min at the hospital and about the same at Dr. Snyders. They did make me do a little test on the lap band. Mostly multiple choice. He goes over it with you during the appt. Good Luck!

:clap2:

Thanks Archermom. There is also a new practice in Thornton that is starting to do the bands too. I will definatley check Dr Snyder out. I went to his website and it looks like he knows what he is doing! Where does he do his surgeries at? And I'm assuming he does them outpatient, right?

Thanks for the info!

Yes, he does it as outpatient surgery at Rose Medical Center. Everything is streamlined- no unneccessary waiting if you can get your things together before you go and see him.

I started last year on December 15th with going to one of his seminars and getting info there. (I had researched the band on my own for about 1/2 year).

Called to get an appointment with him in January and went ahead and scheduled the psych and pulmonary exam before I saw him. You will get all the information in a package that you get at the seminar. Also made an appointment with my PCP and Kim the nutritionist (who herself had gastric bypass done by him a few years back) .

Saw him the end of January, they put in my paperwork to the insurance- got OKyed and got my surgery date. All together not even 3 months- I ask- what more can I want?

Any more questions- don't hesitate to ask.:)

I think the Thornton clinic will actually be another office for Dr. Snyder at St. Anthony's North.

But I could be wrong.

I had my first fill here in Denver by Dr. Kirshenbaum http://www.lapbandrockies.com/ and was very happy with him. He doesn't use a fluoroscope. Instead he just feels for the port and he used an ultrasound to confirm we knew where it was. Rather than drinking barium he had me just sit up, while the syringe was still in my port, and drink Water. I let him know how the water felt going through and he adjusted the amount of saline as we went. It worked out just fine.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
