Tampa Bay FL Bansters....Are you out there???

I was just recenlty banded in February of this year. I am also new to the Tampa FL area as my husband and I just relocated down here from Iowa less than a year ago. I am really missing my friends and family back home which is making this whole process even harder. I am looking for other bansters in the area. Am I the only one in Tampa FL that has been banded?

I live in the Tampa area. I was just banded on March 16th. What area of Tampa are you in?

I actually live in Valrico which is just outside of Brandon and I work in West Tampa. How have you been doing since you were banded?

What is the name of your surgeon? Dr Agulia is who I used and he also has support group meetings. I went to my first one last week.

Welcome! I live in the North Tampa area. My surgeon's office offers support group meetings. They are a great source of encouragement and friendship.

Wow it sounds like we were all banded around the same time. I just go my first fill last week. It's been a little hard as I thought the weight would come off easier. I have only lost 1 pound since my fill. I called the doctor and they are going to do another fill in a week or so. The hardest part for me is learning how to eat slower and chew my food better. I am also struggling with meal ideas. What do you guys find is the hardest part?

I'm in West Tampa (Citrus Park), but we're buying a house in Meadow Pointe (Wesley Chapel/North Tampa area). I don't get to have my first fill until the end of April (a full 6 weeks after surgery). I think my surgeon is pretty cautious. I lost about 14 pounds post op, but now my hunger is back and it's a struggle to keep those pounds off!

I know how you feel. I was the same way. My doctor kept telling me it was not about loosing weight the first 6 weeks, but the last thing I wanted to do was gain weight. Keep the faith. I too had to wait 6 weeks for my first fill. I started chewing gum again. I bought every flavor I could find and then when I was hunger I would pop in a flavor and chew away.

I just wanted to say hi also! I live in Brooksville but work and was banded in Tampa! I go to Support groups in Zephyrhills through Florida Obesity Surgical, Dr. Grossbard's practice. I hope you all are doing well with your bands! :)

My surgery was done by Dr.John Dietrick. The support meetings are held at his office location on Bruce B Downs Blvd next to University Community Hospital. The next one is at 6:00 PM on April 20.
