Rant. Emotions. Crying. Enter Post At Own Risk.
If I had a dollar for everytime I heard, "you've got such a pretty face, if only you'd lose weight." I'd be rich. Too many people don't know when to just shut up. Try not to let it get thebest of you. I'm a work in progree myself and I've come to the realization that no matter who hurts me, I have to keep moving forward. I have to live wth me the rest of my life, not them.

Does Anyone Else Eat Sugar Free Protein Bars?
I have that problem on mornings I work. I surgeon suggested protein bars. I wouldn't choose a 300 calorie one. I like the pure protein bars. They are 180-200 cals and 20 protein. Also, followng your surgeons guidlines, do what works for you. If the weight is coming off...keep goin in that direction. If it stalls or goes up, its time to make some adjustments in what your eating and your workouts.

How do you survive the 2 week pre-op diet?
What kept me focused was the purpose of the diet. Its designed to shrink your liver, making the surgery easier for the doctor and safer for you. I wanted to have every advatage I could have. It was hard, but so worth it. I also got right out of bed and walked. They let me walk while my post op antibiotic was infusing. I refused to even lay in the bed in my room. I was determined not to stay there long. You will do great. Keep focusing on the prize. My prize its been 6 month, I've lost 68 pounds. I feel like a brand new person. Good luck and hang in there.

My doctor has had his band 9 years.

Self Fills
Ok, I get that you are trying to make a frustrating situation better. My husband and I are both nurses and would never consider this. We have a nurse friend that started do her own fills. Long story short, major infection that led to removal of band. Not worth it. Also, it as so infected it had to be an OPEN surgery, so the scar ain't pretty.

I am terrified.
Hey Jen. Last year this time I, with many discussions with my husband signed up for the lap band seminar. I read the forums, watched many hours of you tube videos made by other bandsters. I read everything I could get my hands on about the band. In april I had my band placed and I wish I had done this 10 years ago. I'll be 30 this year and for the first time I feel I have control over food. I am a lucky one to get awesome restriction with 1 fill. I don't feel deprived or that I'm dieting. I've become obsessed with Water instead of soda. With all of that I've lost 50 pounds. I have a lot of weight to loss but I finally feel like I'm getting somwhere. I'd reccomend finding a surgeon in your area, get to a seminar and come with questions. I took my husband with me so he could feel involved. He is my biggest cheerleader. I live in florida also. North of Tampa. Where do you live?

Gossip @ work about my Lap Band surgery
Everyone at my job wanted to give me their opinions. Now that I'm 4 months out they just tell me how great I look. It all blew over, although it did annoy me. I took this opportunity to do some education with my fellow nurses, who were mostly misinformed.

ANY HOPE OF RESTRICTION AFTER FIRST Lap Band FILL????
I had my first fill in june. He tried 3 cc and it was way too tight so he pulled back .2 so I am at 2.8 cc. I have awesome restriction. So awesome that at my last visit I lost 16 lbs and didn't need any adjustments. I average 800-1200 cals a day. I am really hoping this lasts. I was under the assumption it would take many fills to get in the green zone. Good luck!

Veggie Recipes to spice things up???
We made a lasange with zucchini strips instead of noodle. I used ground turkey for meat and loaded it up with squash, mushrooms, onions, tomatos. It was awesome.

Starting liquid diet and would love suggestions
My doctor provided the Protein shakes. They were low carb and I was allowed 4 a day and all the calorie free drinks I wanted. I got creative with the shakes, I used SF syrups to change them up a little. I love coffee and couldnt have cream so I made a "frappichino" by using the chocolate powder with 1 starbucks via (instant coffee) I would add pumpkin sf syrup to my vanilla shake with a dash of cinnamon. you can even use crystal light to flavor the shakes. Just think of what you like and blend with ice and Water. 2 weeks of liquds, I had to get creative. Good luck! P.S. It was a hard 2 weeks, I suggest staying out of the grocery stores. I went to our local one to grab a few things for my family and the smell of rotisserie chicken about killed me. lol And my family kindly skipped ordering pizza those 2 weeks.

Addicted to coffee drinks....HELP with lower-cal alternatives, please!
I love coffee and while on my pre op protien shake phase I came up with using my chocolate shake mix, water, 1 starbucks Via instant coffee, 2 spenda. Blended with ice. Its my lapband frappichino! I love it and still have it for breakfast most mornings. I use chike protien powder, which was reccomened by my dr. I loved the taste of the chocolate and banana powders. 190 cals, 28 grams of protien.

AMAZING! Congrats! That is really inspirational.

Overcoming temptations
My family made a deal not to order pizza while I was on my pre op liquid diet. Its difficult enough, even with out the food right in front of you. Now that I can eat real food, them having pizza doesn't bother me.

Extreme PMS/cramping AFTER band?
I thought I was going to die when I got my period after I was banded (which was a week post op). It was awful, painful and lasted 7 days! I am just gonna wait and see hat happens with my next one. The nurses I worked with seemed to think it was related t the surgery and was a 1 time thing. Hope it gets better for you!

Bandster Hell anyone?
