No pre-op weight loss...anyone else?

Has anyone else gone into surgery not having lost any of the weight they were trying to pre-op? With my luck I am the only one. My goal was to try and lose 20 pounds but I was also told it would not prevent my surgery if I didn't. Kind of wish they would not have given me the out....but on the other hand that should not have made a difference, I know.:(

The pre-op diet really isn't for weight-loss; some lose, some don't. It's to get rid of the fat that surrounds your liver as well as to prep your body for surgery. I lost 12lbs but I didn't go into the diet with a weight-loss goal..

As mentioned the reason for preop diet is to shrink the liver. When is your surgery? Were you given a food plan to follow? Did you follow that plan and still not lose any weight? For now if you have a plan follow it; if not start a low carb/fat/calorie diet until surgery. I was not given a specific diet but did a high protein whey isolate shake for breakfast and dinner and a low cal/fat high protein lunch.

I was told that I should not gain too much weight before my surgery after my consultation so I stayed on the same weight - they did not ask me to loose any at all. Just 2 days on liquids before the surgery day
