Same date! Woo hoo!

Hooray! I wish good luck to all of us :)

It's been a rough road so far, two denials... finally second appeal approved! Cinco de mayo can't get here fast enough!

First off, I just wanted to say good luck to everyone having surgery in May. I don't think I will be banded in May but I do have my last supervised diet for the insurance criteria on the 17th. Hopefully I will be approved and will have the surgery in June. Does anyone know how long it takes for the insurance companies to approve. I was told anywhere from 10 to 30 days.

It just totally depends on your insurance. I have Aetna, and my schedule went like this:

final nutritionist: 1.19.11

insurance denied: 1.28.11

appeal through obesitylaw.com: 2.16.11

appeal denied: 3.10.11

2nd level appeal sent by obesitylaw.com: 3.11.11

2nd level appeal approved: 3.30.11

although I didn't know my 2nd level appeal was approved til the letter arrived on 4.9.11

Good Luck!

Hello all! i got my surgery date on Wednesday!!! May 4!!! I'm soooo excited it's finally happening! It took 2.5 weeks for my insurance approval and 3.5 weeks just to get a surgery date! I'm getting my band done at St. Vincent's Bariatic Center of Excellence in Carmel, IN by Dr. David Diaz!

I go in for my nutrition class on 4/21 and my pre-op testing the next day (7:45 am...ick)!! I have to get the usual - blood work, EKG, PFT, chest x-ray, and an upper GI. I'm choosing to get these at my surgeon's hospital (45 mins away in Indy) instead of at my office (I work at a specialty clinic) for fear of them not getting me in as soon as I need and the possibility of them not getting the results in as soon as they need to be. Any thoughts on this decision? Reasonable? Or a waste of another day off work? I'm kind of torn about it because I don't want to miss any more work than I have to (no on else can do most of my work, so it just piles up) but I also don't want there to be any room for mistakes by letting someone else do it!

Oi! Anyway!! I'm super stoked and can't wait to get banded! :D

My surgery is scheduled for May 4th, my pre admission testing is April 22nd, and my liquid diet starts on April 20th. Plus i have gained 2 pounds because I am apparently going through the "last supper syndrome of eating everything in sight. yikes.

I'm scheduled for may 10th! I'm defiantly excited/nervous. I had to wait the 6 months for my insurance to approve (high mark BCBS) It seemed like forever and like many have already said if I could follow such a strict die for 6 months, then I probably wouldn't be in this predicament and wouldn't need the surgery, now would I?

I ended up losing 20 pounds on the low carb diet with excercise. I am totally "falling off the wagon" this past month or so and am just hoping I don't gain so much they cancel on me. I had my pre ops on Thursday (blood work, EKG and chest X-ray) at the hospital.

I have my pre op doctors clearance appt. Next week, and my last weigh in on the 3rd.

So far I don't have any special instructions about not eating solids for a week or anything. Just not to eat before midnight the day before. I wonder when I will find out more about the diet after? I do know that I will stay overnight and be released the following afternoon. I am one of the first surgeries, I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 for a 7:30 surgery.

I am looking forward to going through this together along with you other May 2011ers!!!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
