I am stuck. I have not lost any weight. I lost 27 pound really fast after surgery (one week). Now i have only lost about ten punds since then (total 38 punds). I was banded on 12/29/10. Is this ok? I had my first fill on 2/4/11 (0.5CC). Im starting to wonder if this was enough. I get full a little faster but I still get hungry. How long in between do you have to wait to get another fill. I want to lose weight but I feel like im stuck. Or am I just rushing it and should take some time and see how this fill is for me? I NEED HELP.

I'd say congrats, you're way ahead of the curve! Dr's expect 4-8 lbs. a month weight loss. I feel like mine is going slow also, but I lost about 12 lbs. last month, and got a high five at the dr's office yesterday!

Remember how long it took you to put on the extra weight, and don't expect it to fall at once. Imagine where you will be in a few months.

dk4k is right. Besides, if you lose too fast, your skin doesn't have enough time to keep up by contracting, and you'll need more surgery to get rid of the extra skin literally hanging around. Slow and steady wins the race.

it sounds like you're doing great!! i know it's hard....

you definately sound like you need another fill. each surgeon is different with the timing. my surgeon was aggressive so i was able to go every 2 weeks. others want their patients go in every 4 weeks.

i was a slow loser so i know how hard it is but keep your chin up... you'll get there!

You're doing really great. I had surgery dec 3/10 and have lost 26 lbs, which includes 10 lbs pre op diet. So you are moving at a good pace in my opinion :)

good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
