Diet restriction after an unfil?

Recommended Posts

I recently got over a violent stomach virus which required me to get an unfill. I'm going this AM for an upper Gi to make sure I didn't slip the band. My doctor didn't specify a diet and I didnt think to ask because I was just feeling so lousy. I didn't eat the first day and did mostly clears the second day after. My appetite came back for dinnertime and I tolerated some broth Soup. I'm definitely taking it easy and modifying.

Anyone who has had this happen before, what were your instruction post unfil? Do you follow the traditional adjustment diet? Or is it slightly different?

I go next week for a refill.

Thank you.

Hi,

I am unfilled because my band slipped. I also had no instructions other than try not to go crazy.

I did lose 10 lbs in a week b/c of the slip and not keeping anything down. Since mu unfill 2 weeks ago today I have gained 13. I have been eating horribly, but also know the last 10 pounds I lost were not a healthy loss. I can't wait to be refilled after my revision and get back on track.

Good luck with your test.

Mel, it is usually diet as tolerated so progress at your own pace and good luck. I am glad you have a fill scheduled.

Tracey, I gained like crazy, too, during my slip unfill and revision surgery and now after 4 months finally have some restriction back. I know what you mean about the former last 10 being an unhealthy wt loss and I have adjusted my goal upward because I don't want t lose wt like that again.

Best wishes, Mimi

Thank you for your replies. I got home from the upper Gi series and the radiologist said everything looks in place. I've been having Soup and tea and feeling fine. Normally I'm a coffee drinker but I don't know if its the acidity or the milk but I just can't think of drinking coffee now. Today I'm going to make sure I get fluids and Protein Shakes to make sure I get the nutrition I need.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
