Thank you to all the well wishers! I was banded 3/10, so I'm 5 days out and still in a lot of pain. I was in so much pain this weekend, I almost felt as if I had made a mistake. Still on the fence about that. I mean I want to be healthy, but I don't want to be in pain everyday, throwing up, having gas so bad that I feel I'm dying, or having the runs. Which I've had all of since last Thursday. Don't want to scare anyone, but so far my experience hasn't been the best. I'm getting nervous, because I have to go back to work by this Wednesday, and having the runs at work is not going to make for a productive day :( .

I will tell you, the doctor that did my surgery on LI has placed over 4,000 lapbands, and the hospital I went to (LIJ Syosset) was supurb, their service and care was outstanding! I'm just in pain, and I thought I would feel much better by now, and I don't. Anyway, lost 10 pounds on the pre-op diet, and was 263 the day of surgery. But have been in so much pain, I haven't gotten on a scale since my surgery, and still don't feel up to it.

I've been on Soups, teas, Protein shakes, etc., but I'm getting about half the amount I'm suppose to. Trying to take in more, but just not feeling up to it. Which is making me nervous, because I don't want to loose weight too fast, as that can cause additional problems, and I don't want to be mal-nourished. I've been walking everyday, but still only feeling slightly better than the day after surgery. But I'm still optimistic, just looking forward to getting off liquids next week, so hopefully that will stop my runny stomach. Hoping I feel better soon.

Good luck to all you March 2011 banders!

sorry you are struggling CJ :( Have you ever had surgery before? Maybe you just dont do well with surgery in general.... I was banded on March 8th and tonight is my first night back to work, my only complaint is that i am still having a lot of pain in my left shoulder...I type a lot at work and its killing me..Against my doctors advice i lifted my 35 pound son to put him to bed...it was only for a short distance but i totally did it out of habbit and forgot since all my pain had pretty much gone away...now im having a little more pain at the port incision :(

Congrats to all the March bandsters that have been banded so far!!! Looks like most are doing OK!

I have 13 days, So I am on my 2nd day of the yummy liquid diet Temple wants me to be on! I also have a busy week. I have appts. tomorrow up there for pre admission screening, and the dietician. Then I see Dr. Demspey for my last appt. with him on Thursday, yippee. I don't think the liquid diet will be too bad, I worked my way into it by really cutting down my caloric intake last week! The weekends might be tougher!!!

Good Luck and keep up the good work!!

I am exactly a week away from being banded! :D I couldnt be more excited about it! But today I feel a little on the bumed side of things.:( I have been on my preop diet for a week now and I lost 5lbs in the first five days! but then I gained a lb and then another the next day and then stayed the same the next! I dont know why! I know I shouldnt worry about it but it just makes me feel bad! But I guess on an upper note my pants feel better! I think I have lost a few more than 5 lbs in the last month so that where that comes from. I guess its just the fact that I feel like Im starving myself and gaining even though it was only 2lbs, it still is frustrating! Any ways I just needed to vent and express my feelings! Thank you all for reading and listening!! Good luck to all that have been banded so far and those that are being banded today!

Everything went well today! I checke din at 6am, surgery began at 7:15 and I was out the door to head home at 9:30. I'm a litle sore on both of my sides, and the left feels like trapped air. My port is not hurting at all. I was able to drink about 1/2 cup of Tomato Soup and so far half a sugar free Jello cup...but feel pretty full. Am about to take some more Vicodin Syrup and lounge on the couch a bit, then get up and walk again.

The anesthesiologist said he had to suction my lungs a lot and that I still have bronchitis...he's hoping the antibiotics they gave ins urgery will knock it out. The surgeon said my stomach and bowels looke dinflammed and he aske dmy mom if i ate a spicy dinner (I didn't last night but did the night before). He said not to worry though.

According to the scale there I was down 12 1/2 pounds over the past week.

To those being banded TOMORROW best of luck...it's really not bad...;)

Just checking in to see how the other Ides of March (today) band'ed peeps are holding up? My only real pain is still my left side where it feels like trapped air. The nurse said incisional pain may be way worse tomorrow as the lidocaine they injected wears off. I find myself hurting a little inthe chest if I need to belch...but that relieves it. Was about to try some more Tomato Soup for supper but as soon as I turned the stove on the dang power went out  so I think I'll have some more yogurt and some juice. I'm actually not particularily hungry, so maybe just some juice for now. And shoot I wish the electric would come back on. No CPAP tonight unless it does. *sigh*

My mom brought dinner for the family out, and a friend from church is due to deliver some meals. so incredibly sweet of people but I am finding myself a bit jealous that I can't eat it.

anyway, hoping the rest of you who went under the knife so to speak today are doing well. and to those of you going in tomorrow GOOD LUCK!!!

I feel like my last minute hesitations/anxiety over going thru with this are melting away.

Just checking in with everyone-hope all is well. I am hoping that I am still just recovering from the flu (although a DF of mine is teasing me that I am pregnant!!!!!-don't even want to go there) that nothing tastes good and I have an upset stomach-I think the nerves are kicking in already. Best of luck to those having surgery today!! Off to the gym-that may help with everything. bbl

Just checking in. I had my surgery on March 11th. I had a rough night the night before last. I had such pain in my bowel area. I know too much info. I tried to not take the pain medicine and work through it. I was miserable. I had gas pain in my chest too. It was terrible. So yesturday I stayed on the couch for most of the day and used the heating pad. In the evening I took a walk around the block with hubby then a shower. I just stayed with the basics because I was cranky. It was not the incisions but the gas. I kept thinking that this cant last much longer. My husband made me take my pain meds at bedtime and I slept like a baby. I cant even tell you how much better I feel today. I have a little gas pain but not as bad as it was. I feel like a new woman. So I know that many of you are like me and think that you can get through the pain and force yourself better but let me tell you that I know better now. If you need the meds take the meds. So to all you newly banded people take it easy and although you will have ups and downs with the gas pain it does get better.

My gas pain is so much better today, but I did just take some vicodin Syrup and motrin because after driving the kids to the bus stop (getting in and out of a tiny truck where I barely clear the steering wheel) my 2 incisions on the outside/sides started to sting a bit. I'm about to loaf on the ocuch and sip some thin Soup and tea and read a book while my 3 year old watches a movie.

I'm so glad I had this done. It seems surreal that it's really inside me...and my new life can begin. and now that my family knows, I'm so overwhelmed by their love and support. Soemthing I did NOT expect. Even my kids are beign gentle with me since I showed them my "boo boos' and told them they oculd hurt me if they get rough.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
