My consultation was 01/25/11. I am so ready to do this but i feel like the system is set up for ppl who are not quite sure. Unfortunately i waited till I was 100% positive before scheduling an appointment. now everything feels like its dragging. Now I have to get an Endoscopy, Psych Eval, Nutritionist, and letter of recommendation. feeling like Im back to square one. I think I gave myself the false hope that when I made my decision it would be one two three and i would be feeling great by summer...............could be wrong-er!

btw how do i get one of those weight loss trackers?

The waiting is hard, don't get discouraged, it is just another part of the process...I think a lot of people waffle back and forth about it too, I know I did. Then the whole idea of proving you're a good candidate to the insurance company etc can be emotional as well. I wish you all the luck in the world...and patience since that is what you really need. :)

You can get a ticker on tickerfactory.com and customize it. :)

I am right there with you! I spent all day scheduling appointments! Everything is scheduled for the first week in Feb., except the psyche evaluation... earliest I could get in is Feb 17th. I was just thinking the same thing. I wonder how long after we have our checklist completed we will have to wait to get the procedure done! I'm sitting here with Cookies as I'm writing this lol! We've waited this long.. whats another month right? Good luck!

O no....they put you to sleep and you wake up not even knowing you had it done. You will be really tired for the rest of the day tho...don't make any plans, you might just sleep and sleep once you get home. I did!!!

Watch and see how fast time flies. The ample time is fitting, giving you the precise allotted space needed to gather your paperwork in order. When I faced such ordeal, I kid you not...I got on the phone and booked all of my appointments very close together and got my clearances done in less than three months. My surgeon was so surprised I was so ready for surgery. Don't get discouraged, there still is time for you to start feeling great by summer, you'll see. This journey is such a trying experience, however in the end your perseverance and patience will be worth it.

Re the weight loss tracker: Click on my tickerfactory image it will prompt you to the website. Fill out the boxes, then create your own ticker. Copy the first link, then proceed to your profile located on the upper left corner "signed in as" (under the Lapbandtalk logo). There, go to settings, it will open up four other tabs. Click on your profile, go down to 'change your signature' and paste the copied link there. I do hope this works for you.

I understand totally. I was totally ready when I went to the seminar in the middle of November and was well aware that the process wasn't easy. But just when I got stressed and ready to say forget it because of all the different things required I got a call last week saying that I was approved and my surgery date is 2/15/11. With that call my determination came back and even though the pre-op shake diet is not great I am back on board 100%. It only took me 2 1/2 months from seminar until when I have my surgery. Also kudois to my Doctors office because they really stayed on top of everything. Good Luck and dopn't get discouraged. Its just a little bump on the way to a new life.

hmmm cookie, we're both from NY. Wonder if I could start making these appointments now even though I don't know yet what I need. But it can't hurt! lol we probably need the same things. My seminar is on thurs the first week of feb. I am just like you. i made up my mind after thinking and doing oh so much research and now this will slow me down. When I make up my mind i'm like a dog with a bone! lol Good luck. I look forward to seeing your future posts since you're so far ahead of me now. ;)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
