Frustrated - No Weight Loss

Recommended Posts

Hi All Bandsters

I had my band on 4th November 2010 and it went really well the first month, the second month i lost about 4kgs but since then I seem to be really struggling to lose weight, I only eat breakfast/lunch at about 11.20am which consists of usually a yoghurt or sometime scrambled eggs and then I usually have lunch at about 2.00pm which consists of a tin of tuna and some salad and then dinner at about 8pm which consists usually of a meat and veg or salad. I do have a few biscuits on occassions at about 5pm on weekends which I know is not a good thing!

I do think that I have restriction as everyone talks about and I have had a few episodes of bringing up like frothy like siliva and I think that is more when larger pieces of food get stuck and wont go down. Is this all normal and I would love some suggestions as to how to get the weight loss moving downwards again.

Thanks to all

Zimbo

It might be your are not eating enough. What is your resting metabolism? You made need to space your meals out and have a heathly snack some time during the day.

It's hard to tell with so little information. How much scrambled eggs? What size tin of tuna? How much Protein at dinner? How much/little weight do you have to lose?

I agree it's hard to tell without specific food amounts. I hate to open the tempest in the teapot about eggs. I know recently there has been more discussion about egg yolks not being that bad when eating WITH egg whites. I don't eat egg yokes 1)fat, 2)cholesterol. Keep in mind one egg yolk has 7 g fat. So 2 scrambled eggs is 14 g fat, 180 cal, 12.6 g Protein. Yes I understand fat makes you feel full longer. Egg white (one egg) 17 cal 3.6 g Protein. So 4 eggs whites 68 cal., 14.4 g protein, no fat. Do you live in Europe? Your vocab suggests that you might. Not sure if you can buy what we call Egg beaters, containers of just egg whites in the refrigerated section.

Also do you have a digital food scale? My doctor says 3 oz of protein per meal. I have to weigh because I know I would eat more than 3 oz. I Really suggest that you invest in one if you have'nt already.

I would say if your day begins before your lunch time you need to have something in the morning to get your metabolism reved up and ready to go. Try half an english muffin with something on it like a slice of cheese or maybe some Peanut Butter. Also, cutting food into smaller pieces and/or taking smaller bites is a must for not getting sick. Chew slow and concentrate on your chewing..that helps me the most to avoid a painful meal. Do you exercise at all? Add something to your daily routine even if it is only for 10 mins a day...or take stairs instead of elevator those types of things. Good luck to you.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
