Only 1 cc a month?

My dr. is very conservative when it comes to fills. I was banded on 11/10/10 with a 10 cc band and no fills. Then on 12/9/10 I got a 1 cc fill. Then on 1/13/11 I got another 1 cc fill. She only does one cc a month. Is this normal? I don't know if it's good/safe that she's being so conservative with my fills or if she's just trying to get more money by me continually coming back??? I pay her $200 for a fill. I had been considering going to Fill Centers and forking out the $350 if I can get more of a fill, but I don't really want to switch doctors.

Had my first fill last week - 2cc - 2 months after banding

My Doctor said no more fills for at least 2 months (and the way I feel now I doubt that I will need any more due to the restriction I feel now) and no more than .08cc each fill after that.

Im happy to accept his advice as I am losing weight at a satisfactory rate

By the way - he does not charge me for follow up consultations or fills nor does the dietician at our monthly meetings. I am self pay and it was an all in lifetime care arrangement for a total of $6000 including the banding

I got my band through TrueResults and when I've gone for fill appointments, the lady that does the fills is very conservative. I've only had 3 fills (out of 4 appointments). The way she's told me how much I have in the band is confusing. Like, I don't know if I'm getting a full 1cc each fill. It doesn't sound like it, because she'll say how some of the Fluid stays in the tubing from the port to the band.

I see some people say how much Fluid they have in their bands and it just floors me. I have a 10cc band and only have maybe 3cc in it.

I have however had pretty good restriction and my weight loss is pretty good (I'm about a 1lb a week right now), but after this last fill, it seems like I'm getting hungry quicker. Don't know what that's about!

I guess every doctor is different. i got 5.5 ccs in my FIRST fill. Which surprised me.. but you can't be getting much with 1cc. I feel very restricted! It feels good.

We have the same story. I was banded on 8/11 and have had one cc for the past 4 fills. I finally asked him to be more aggressive and he gave me 2 cc's last week and I think that finally did it for me. I am finally losing weight after months of standing still. I definitely feel your frustration. Hang in there.

I had 5 cc put in my first fill by the nurse. When she injected the saline I felt it through my body up in my neck. I felt restricted for a few days, but I can eat breads, lettuce, everything. My question is has anyone else has that feeling of it going thru their body? I'm thinking she maybe didn't get it in the port!!

That's weired. I haven't heard of that before. I certainly haven't experienced it. Have you asked your dr office about it?

I could feel it going in, it was weird haha.

I felt really full for 2 or 3 days, now it feels pretty much the same as it did before.

HeatherinCA,

I got my first fill Monday afternoon. I feel like it is difficult to eat or drink much of anything. It feels like it takes a full minute or two for whatever I have to get my stomach after every drink or bite. I also kind of feel bubbling in my throat. Did you have any of those feelings? I am worried to try anything.

At my first fill when I stood up I felt this constriction in my upper stomach area. It did'nt realy hurt but I felt it happen. I have not had that happen again though.

I think going slow is best. I am 18 months out, no fill at surgery and ½ cc each fill since then. I have a 10cc band and only 3.8 cc in it and could not handle anymore.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
