Having a bad day

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for some advise. I was over filled at my last appointment and had to go back for an unfill yesterday. I was told I could eat soft foods and did yesterday and today. As a result, I gained about 1.5 pounds and I'm hungry very frequently. I talked to the nurse practioner and she indicated I should have been on liquids. So that's what I'm doing for the next few days. I feel a little better about that now, but I'm still a little down. Any advice or words of wisdom?

We all have moments, days, hours, its all a trial and error. You cant beat your self up because you gain 1.5lbs it might just be Water retention. Just do liquids like they said and upgrade to soft foods in a couple days. We all have days its part of the process. Chin up. You can do it.

Thanks. I'm trying to stay as positive as possible. I did liquids today. I'm still hungry every couple of hours and I'm a little afraid of what my weight will look like tomorrow. I do have an appointment for Feb 2nd at least.

My advice? Hide your scale, throw it out, whatever you need to do to NOT weigh yourself! Mine now lives in my garage. I won't know how much weight I've lost until I go back to see the doctor March 2. This is a long term process and I'm sure you know how the scale can fluctuate over a 24 hr period for all sorts of reasons that have NOTHING to do with what you've eaten. When we get hung up on the numbers on the scale, we measure our successes and failures based on that, and if you're like me, your whole sense of self worth and well being is defined by a number on the scale. By not looking at the numbers on a daily basis, you begin to feel proud of yourself for the more important things... did I make good food choices? Did I exercise? Did I take my Vitamins? And these are the behaviors that will lead to long term weight loss in any case. Sounds to me like you have a lot to be proud of, and I'll Celebrate that no matter what the scale says!

Hi,

I am due for Lap Band surgery in a few weeks. I just received approval through my insurance and now I am thinking of not doing this. My fears are keeping me at a stand still. Does anyone have any advice?

a 'bad day' is but one little tiny bump on the endless rocky shores of the other events we must find ways to overcome...the Belly Beast of 'hunger' will attempt to raise its ugly head from time to time. Remain on your path and all will go well. Most of my own fears about "hunger" really were more inflated by 'the FEAR of becoming MORE hungry'....for myself coming to understand hunger/not hunger, satiety, fullne/not full pleasantly took the place of those little demons. You will do fine as long as you behave as you know you should. Don't let fears consume you. The Old Habit of 'overeating' has to be conquered by a rational mind.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
