Band Complications or just illness??

Recommended Posts

Hi Muggle,

I read your notes with great interest. I am in Scotland, and was banded in Belgium on 5th December 2005, and am desperately waiting for my first adjustment, but am getting nowhere!!! I have put the weight back on too, and now feel that I can't get full up.I just hope that I hear soon, as I was told I could contact a fill provider in Scotland, so that is what I am waiting on!!!

All the best to you, I hope you continue to feel better!!!

Justine xx

Hi Muggle,

I am just curious. Could it be possible that the chest infection you have is possibly pneumonia from the reflux. (better known as aspiration pneumonia). The nurse in me tells me that maybe you need a chest x-ray to see if this is what is going on. If your band was too tight and you had reflux at night when you slept, it's possible that you could have breathed in some of that reflux into your lungs and that can cause a very nasty case of pneumonia. Not trying to scare you, I just hope your Drs. have covered all of the bases.

:) hi iam chris frome the uk too sorry about your band causing you troble iam havig a lot of acid reflux since my last fill 3 weeks ago my band may be to tight i go back to see my surgon in 3 weeks if as not settled down i will be asking him to take some out for me iam new to this site and dont know how it works so i hope you get this i will leave you my email w62chris@hotmail.co.uk if you want a chat love chrisuote=muggle]What a relief, I have had a 2 mill unfill and I feel so much better. My fill provider has said if my infection is still present in 1 – 2 weeks he is going to do a barium swallow and x-ray my band.

He is concerned now about my Protein intake because I have not been able to eat any form of meat for 3 months. Plus I look horrible he saw my dry scalp and thinning hair. He just wants me to focus on getting my antibiotics in and upping my Protein intake and we will review in 2 weeks.

I have just had a slice of toast and some spaghetti hoops do you have spaghetti hoops in the US?? Gosh I sound so ignorant but we call so many different things don’t we. Well anyway I chewed well and it was delicious I felt satisfied on a relatively small amount. And it was wonderful just to eat a solid meal and not be in agony.

Ill let you all know how I get on its 7.15 pm hear and Eastenders will be on soon so I am off to have a cup of tea and watch telly.

Hi,

I am new to the chat room. I had similar problems. I was throwing up everything I ate or drank and was fine before that. My surgeon explained that once I started to throw up it irriated it making it worse. I had a lot of reflux especially when I was sleeping I would wake up choking. I had them unfill it and the problems went away for the most part. They also told me when I have had aggravations to only drink Clear liquids for 24 hrs and that seemed to help.

Good luck

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
